Mona Tougaard for Rabanne AW25 Campaign

Mona Tougaard for Rabanne AW25 / Autumn/Winter 25 Campaign. Starring Mona Tougaard, it explores contradiction – strength and sensuality, concealment and revelation – channeling light into power.

For Fall-Winter 25, Rabanne explores the quiet drama of concealment and revelation, where structure is undone and protection turns poetic. A solar energy pulses beneath the surface : strength and sensuality in constant motion, channeling light into power. Traditional materials become portals of emotion : classic wools and coated cottons peel back to expose glimmers of shine, while plush faux fur erupts from beneath precise tailoring. Hero pieces include an ample jacket traced with sequin lapels, a pill-printed suit cut from sleek satin, and skirts fringed in wild tufts of fur.

Instinctive, radiant, alive — the collection ignites a wardrobe of contradictions : armored yet delicate, grounded yet glimmering. Not power as a pursuit, but as presence. Two states acting on each other. A framework that breaks open. The Rabanne Fall-Winter 25 Campaign collection invites us to hold everything close – our history, our treasures, our strength – only to let it go at just the right moment. Articulating this impulse through associations of material, shape and colour, Julien Dossena places preciousness and protection in constant dialogue.

Modern fur is elegantly enveloping, but also wild and unleashed, from sumptuous naturalistic coats to skirts composed of bushy tails that swing in motion. Stricter silhouettes in classic wools and coated cottons explore different notions of territory between exterior and interior: controlled outbursts of fur from the underside of kilts, radiant silvery surfaces peeling back, beaded scarves emphasising lines, and deconstructed panels that wrap around second-skin shine. These elements are then ruptured and enhanced through strategic slits, dimensional textures, and profusions of tiny paillettes. The ambiguity of this excess carries over to an explosive print of colourful pills rendered as a sleek suit.

Across the looks, an off-kilter palette – apricot, green glass, burgundy, deep blue, brown, black, and lilac – reaches a warm/cool balance. Men embrace similar chromatic expressions, where real and faux leather converge with layers of tailoring and fur. Alongside the structured silhouettes, there are dualities of flou such as metal mesh incrustations with lace protected under belted shells in tinted plastic. Shimmery, flounced sheaths float atop dresses in leather or wool, and longer sheer dresses reveal a body that glimmers beneath. These looks are grounded with combat boots laced high for a stronger statement, while Mary Janes are worn with shimmering socks, suggesting a grunge influence amidst other allusions to the past. Yet as this present time produces an ever-shifting confluence of uncertainty and courage, an old-world key worn around the neck can possess personal meaning; a universal sign of our safety and our secrets – or else, for unlocking something still unknown.
