PRONOUNCE Fall/Winter 2026 – 2027 / FW26 at Milan Men’s Fashion Week entitled Wooden Pagoda
For this collection, PRONOUNCE looks to one of China’s most enduring architectural feats: the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda in Shanxi Province, the tallest surviving wooden pagoda in the world. Built without nails, its Sun-Mao, or mortise-and-tenon, construction has withstood centuries of seismic, political, and social change: a quiet monument to human ingenuity, precision, and continuity. That structural intelligence becomes the conceptual backbone of the collection. The pagoda’s verticality and ascending silhouette inform the garments’ layered constructions, engineered cuts and sculptural volumes. Clothing is conceived as architecture: balanced, load-bearing, and designed to endure.
At a symbolic level, the exposed joints, fissures, and grain of the wood speak to resilienc rather than fragility. The matrix-like Sun-Mao system, rhythmic and precise, suggests a visual cadence not unlike music, where individual elements gain strength through collective harmony. Human presence remains central through PRONOUNCE’s ongoing project “Portraits of All Beings (Faces)”, inspired by the faces of carpenters and craftspeople from Shanxi and surrounding provinces, grounding the garments in their lived experience and acknowledging the anonymous hands behind this important cultural heritage 2026 marks PRONOUNCE’s 10th anniversary. To mark this milestone, the show revisits 10 carefully selected looks from past collections. These archival pieces trace the geographical, cultural, and emotional territories or “destinations” the brand has explored over the past decade, offering a retrospective that feels forward-looking rather than nostalgic.
Rooted in Eastern heritage yet attuned to the rhythms of contemporary urban life, PRONOUNCE Fall/Winter 2026 – 2027 articulates a modern identity that is sculptural, poetic, and quietly powerful, where tradition is not preserved as a static reference, but re-engineered as a living structure.
