Marika Suzuki unveiled her eponymous label at the GFC Showcase during New York Fashion Week, showcasing a deeply personal body of work shaped by memory and material transformation. Utilizing heat-treated discarded plastic bottles and damaged kimonos and textiles destined for discard, Suzuki embraces materials marked with wear, fragility, and imperfection, exploring themes of vulnerability and coexistence. While sustainability is an integral part of her process, each garment ultimately functions as a tactile fragment of her personal history, holistically telling her life story from birth to age 18 in material form.
