Mizen Fall/Winter 2026 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo

Mizen Fall/Winter 2026 / FW26 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo, it Announces First Participation in Rakuten Fashion Week Debut Runway Show.

MIZEN Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Shunsuke Teranishi) presented its FW26 / Fall/Winter 2026 Collection on March 20, 2026, at Shibuya Hikarie Hall in Tokyo. The presentation marked the brandʼs first-ever runway show format and followed MIZENʼs announcement of its debut participation in Rakuten Fashion Week, coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the brandʼs founding on February 17.

The theme of Mizen FW26 / Fall/Winter 2026 seasonʼs show was “Slow Fashion.” In todayʼs fashion landscape, value is often measured by speed and immediate impact. By contrast, the handmade techniques that define Japanʼs traditional craftsmanship reveal their true worth only through time: by engaging deeply, understanding their context, and allowing appreciation to unfold gradually. Yet in the contemporary world, that sense of time has become increasingly difficult to perceive, with everything flattened into the same pace. In this runway presentation, MIZEN deliberately placed these two opposing timelines within the same space in order to bring their distinct contours into sharper focus. For MIZEN, “Slow Fashion” does not simply refer to slower production. Rather, it is a proposition to reconsider the values that reside within time itself.

KAMUI: The Icon of MIZEN, KAMUI is an iconic model that embodies the essence of MIZEN. By reconstructing standardized kimono fabrics sourced from across Japan together with knit materials through advanced linking techniques, it brings together traditional Japanese craftsmanship—dyeing, weaving, and sewing—within a single garment, expressing a philosophy that places technique at the forefront.

In Mizen FW26 / Fall/Winter 2026 collection, alongside the existing KIMONO Knit series, new material developments have been introduced, including double-face wool, cotton broadcloth, and silk denim. Designed to be worn over a kimono, the pieces transcend the boundaries between Japanese and Western dress, proposing a new way of wearing that connects craftsmanship with the individual. About MIZEN PROJECT, Founded in 2022, MIZEN PROJECT was established with the aim of preserving Japanʼs traditional techniques and elevating the standing of its artisans. Through its collections, MIZEN has sought to express the idea that recognizing the people behind craftsmanship can become a new form of spiritual richness—and that this sensibility can be elevated into a new kind of luxury. MIZEN is working to establish two new values in society. The first is to expand a fashion and design perspective in which technique, an area in which Japan has already earned exceptional trust, takes center stage rather than the designer-centric approach that currently dominates fashion. The second is the belief that the value of handwork can become a new form of luxury—one rooted in a sense of human connection and emotional depth.

About Shunsuke Teranishi, the designer of Mizen after graduating from the Department of Architecture at Kyoto University, Shunsuke Teranishi began his career at Yohji Yamamoto before moving to Milan, where he gained experience as Chief Patternmaker at Carol Christian Poell and 3D Designer at Agnona. After returning to Japan in 2018, he founded STUDIO ALATA to promote the value of traditional industries and launched ARLNATA, a label using kimono textiles. In April 2022, he co-founded MIZEN together with Tamayo Sunaga, founder of Furusa-to Choice, and Trustbank, with the goal of establishing a Japan-originated luxury model in which technique takes center stage. In December of the same year, MIZEN opened its flagship store in Minami-Aoyama.
