Rhude Fall Winter 2021 – 2022 collection at Paris Fashion Week Men’s

For the Fall Winter 2021 collection, R H U D E founder Rhuigi Villasenor has found comfort in moments from his past. Traveling back in time to relive experiences and merge the past with the present. Seeking inspiration from classic cars and style choices from his collegiate years, Villasenor debuts a collection full of timeless pieces that marry fond memories with a vision for the future.

As we continue through life we are repeatedly proving, both to ourselves and to external forces that we are capable of persevering all challenges that have come across our paths. This perseverance is represented throughout the main collection in enduring looks.

A taste for the 90s aesthetic of Villasenor’s youth can be found across the collection in a variety of ways, particularly through the relaxed silhouettes, classic tailoring and elements of suiting. The use of denim in the collection is a direct reference to days spent roaming school hallways, chilling afterschool. Villasenor has always been an admirer of classic and luxury cars, which is prevalent throughout the collection as he deconstructs automotive interiors and transforms these textures and colors into the season’s designs.

The Fall collection offers a radical development of the RHUDE women’s ready-to-wear line, which first debuted in the AW20 collection with a few key pieces. The women’s offering focuses on confidence and a celebration of beauty and freedom, creating a modern uniform that can easily translate from day-to-night. A highlight from the collection is what Villasenor refers to as “The Girlfriend Coat,” a classic tailored coat, reinterpreted through lens of RHUDE.

In further embodiment of continuing down our paths, R H U D E has collaborated with the iconic Formula 1team McLaren Racing on a limited capsule collection within the FW21 collection. The collections will reimagine the powerful stories and iconography of McLaren’s renowned Formula 1 history, conveying the style and energy of racing into innovative and progressive designs. R H U D E and McLaren will bring the brands’ pioneering ideals and unique history together to form a collaboration that will pay homage to racing legend Bruce McLaren, as seen through the lens of modern luxury and Rhuigi’s own respect for Formula 1, resulting in a unique fusion of sport and fashion.

The Fall collection from R H U D E is a testament to perseverance and continuation in the face of adversity. There has been no obstacle that has come across our path that that we have not yet been able to overcome.

Brand Overview:

R H U D E, founded by Rhuigi Villaseñor in 2015, is a design venture born out of Los Angeles, balancing luxury techniques with streetwear elements, showcased as ready-to-wear collections.  Designed from a narrative standpoint R H U D E is both a reflection of modern socioeconomics and personal stories as Villaseñor came to Los Angeles from the Philippines at the age of 11 with no concept of brand culture.  Now a reoccurring theme season-to-season, RHUDE combines American iconography with nostalgic references, a visual commentary on Los Angeles style and culture itself. Rhuigi studied art history shortly after graduating high school and was an understudy/intern to Shaun Samson.    With no formal training specific to fashion design, Villaseñor credits his understanding of garments and construction to growing up with a mother who was a tailor, providing a foundation and understanding of how to build each piece and the subsequent stories told with each collection. RHUDE’s journey parallels Villaseñor, chronicling the evolution of a man from adolescence to maturity, a narrative reflected in each collection, both the Creative Director and brand continue to grow-up with its ever-expanding fan base.
