In a time with severe lack of simple solutions, clothing becomes one of the few things we can rely on and simplify, strip it to its bare foundation. The focal point of fall-winter 2021 season for Theo Dekan, founder and creative director of eponymous brand, is rethinking, reconsidering and rearranging the garment, its functions, purpose and aesthetics. Sensitivity, emotion, imperfection – all combined by the notion of radical simplicity underlying the new co-ed collection.
Fabrics being the foundation of every garment has also served as the defining element for the collection, the structure of which has been determined by the choice of materials and colors. Seemingly simple, the garments are developed with a singular formula of applying 10% basic and 90% experimental construction techniques fostering a clean yet contemporary look. Gender-neutral and meticulously crafted, FW21 pieces rely on the past (traditional forms), correspond to the present (modern silhouettes) and aim for the future (experimental techniques).
Genderless pantsuits constitute the core of new THEO collection with explicit elimination of any details that adapt them to emphasize female body. Traditionally cut suit with four-pocket jacket and contrasting «denim-style» details made of sun-dried Japanese cotton, signature «DNA» suit with boxy shaped jacket and round-cropped pants of paper-reminiscent cotton, and a softer option – double-cotton suit without shoulder pads and three patch pockets – designed to fit any body and situation, they provide a simple solution for daily life. Classic balmacaans polarize the collection with one made of heavy sun-dried cotton in navy blue and salmon and the other – of golden eco-leather inevitably drawing attention. Collarless coat made of craft-printed «window» pattern cotton, along with all collection pieces, is based on a classic male patterns. Eco-furs add on to the outerwear part of the collection – oversized one with extra-high collar as well as coat with diamond-shaped contrasting print. Emotional intensity peaks in prints – abstract and made with bold colors, they are balanced with simple form of fluid daytime dresses.
