Portugal Fashion Present Constança Entrudo, Maria Carlos Baptista, Ricardo Andrez Fall Winter 2021 – 2022 collection at Paris Fashion Week

Portugal Fashion and ModaLisboa cement the worldwide influence of made in Portugal creation, enhancing the reach and appeal of both traditional Portuguese craftsmanship and cutting-edge, innovative fashion design.

Introduced within Paris Fashion Week® ’s now-digital framework, this unique Autumn / Winter 2021 edition will showcase the collections of three emerging designers at the forefront of Portuguese fashion with immersive short films.

Through subtle back-and-forths between past, present and future, Constança Entrudo’s AW21 collection the World We Live In : Part II weaves a commentary on sustainable regeneration. Her unconventional take on upcycling seeks to rethink our immediate relationship with the environment, incorporating Madeira Islands’s traditional art of tapestry and embroideries to conjure up images of deserted landscapes. Brazil’s Tropicália movement, with its vibrant combination of popular and avant-garde styles, as well as Caetano Veloso’s poetic musicality serve as a backdrop for this artisanal collection in organic, neutral colours and contrasting details.

Maria Carlos Baptista’s AW21 Espaço Negativo studies the immaterial space of memory and its interactions with the body. Channeling the ethereal ambiguity of photographs, her conceptual collection collages highly-structured shapes with elongated silhouettes. Polarized colours and negative-style prints reflect her texture-focused, experimental approach to light and shadow play. Mysterious entities emerge, sculptures extracted from the digital realm, suspended in time.

Tip-toeing on the edge between poetry and chaos, Ricardo Andrez’s AW21 collection embraces vulnerability and mishaps as part of an ode to life. Centred on reconstruction, this eco-conscious upgrade of the brand’s core DNA integrates reworked denim, cork materials and dead-stock fabrics. Drawing from the rawness of chaos, Andrez infuses hope and creativity into his proteiform designs. Former mistakes evolve into replenished beauty.
