THE “FENDACE” COLLECTION IS HERE
Donatella Versace, Silvia Venturini Fendi and Kim Jones join forces for the anticipated show.
As rumored, Donatella Versace, Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi teamed up to showcase a joint Fendi x Versace runway, also known as “Fendace,” at Milan Fashion Week.
“It’s a first in the history of fashion: two designers having a true creative dialogue that stems from respect and friendship. It led to us swapping roles to create these two collections,” Versace spoke of the partnership, while Jones added: “Friends, idols, mentors… It’s the beauty of togetherness.”
Split into the “VERSACE BY FENDI” and “FENDI BY VERSACE” segments, the runway was described not as a “collaboration” but as a “swap,” where the creative directors switched their roles to design looks for one another. “VERSACE BY FENDI” took inspiration from the mid-to-late ’90s while delving into the concept of duality by fusing Fendi’s Monogram pattern with Versace’s Greek key motif. In contrast, “FENDI BY VERSACE” was influenced by punk rock with materials like chain mail used alongside lace. Fendi’s F Monogram was reimagined with crystal-encrusted details throughout.
Celebrating the two iconic houses, the show saw a star-studded group of front-row attendees including Gigi Hadid, Dua Lipa, Winnie Harlow and Evan Mock, among others. Meanwhile, the catwalk featured some of the biggest names in fashion, including the iconic Naomi Campbell, Kristen McMenamy and Kate Moss, to Emily Ratajkowski, Irina Shayk and Amber Valletta.
