MTL Studio Fall Winter 2022 -2023 at Milano Men’s Fashion Week
The Fall Winter 22/23 collection “The Guise Show” is inspired by caricaturated and grotesque reality, where glossy figures walk down English lawns, between terraced houses in a frantic round dance for its own sake.
In the way of appearances, the buttonholes of blazers and coats don’t embrace any buttons, the denim pockets on Baggy jeans are blind, and the patches on sweatshirts are only colored details. The tailored suits, with classic cut and wide shapes, have warm tones of brown and mustard, prince of wales wool and pied de poule fabric, they show peaked lapel and eco-leather patches in contrast. Overlays and stripes on cotton popelin shirts are in light blue shades, in pendant with underwear. The “in love smile”, the symbol icon of the brand, is made in recycled tartan fabric and woven in a deconstructed embroidery, on sweatshirt and knitwear. The black shirt floreal-themed, renewed itself and interprets a naïve look at the world through the stylized drawings of a child: dreams, hearts, love and fantasy.
Born in Modena in 1989 Matteo Lamandini attended first the Accademia Europea in Bologna and then Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni in Milan. He has worked as Menswear Assistant at MSGM and MARNI and then won “Designer for Tomorrow” in 2014. From there he decided to start his eponymous collection from the SS16 and also designed a capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger that was presented during Berlin Fashion Week. MTLstudio collections mixing classic menswear and street style icons are becoming uniforms for the new generation of Italian trappers and musicians: MTLstudio jackets, shirt and overalls have been chosen from artists like Ghali, J-Ax and Salmo, just to name a few.
