In times of delicate humanity, women seek new armour to shelter and find refuge in, to bring joy and excitement, to escape in. This collection explores the duality between realism and dreaming, ever-present within all of us. Synchronously acknowledging our collective grounding and the comfortbringing protective layers we cocoon ourselves with, we continue to seek out much-craved moments of levity, beauty, poetry and freedom. Delicately oscillating between the contradictions within.
Creating new conversations with old friends, this season ROKSANDA is honoured to be in dialogue with renowned artist Eva Rothschild under the roof of the iconic Tate Britain. Exquisite use of colour and bold structure combined to subvert expectations are themes mirrored through many years of mutual appreciation and resonance, culminating in creativity reflected back to each other. Mirroring these themes in the collection are exaggerated gowns of padded amorphous and unusual patchworking in classic ROKSANDA colour-blocking, married together in silk taffetas, silk satins, cottons and sandwashed silks to bring new volume and tactility and defying pre-conceived notions of construction.
The thematic continuity of sheltering, unapologetic femininity clashing with powerful undertones is seen in skilfully draped dresses that revel in the dichotomy of voluminous oversizing contrasted against flowing silks. Traditional sculptural couture silhouettes are exquisitely clashed with utilitarian details including topstitch pockets, bringing modernity and dynamic versatility to everyday elegance.
Billowing romantic dresses are updated in bold highlighter colours and with shortened hems offering a refreshed take on eveningwear. Volume is exaggerated to extremes in sleeves, at necklines and at hems creating otherworldly neon clouds. Elsewhere, long flowing fluid gowns with luxurious detailing harken to a more classic notion of ultrafeminine eveningwear with elegant minutiae including large gold-plated and pearl brooch-like jewellery fastenings at clavicles and cuffs, and attached silk scarves.
Delving into the brand’s rich artistic oeuvre, original ink wave prints created on acetate are scanned and overlaid onto organic cottons and luxurious silk satins that enhance the perceived movement of the waves as they glide over the body.
Fil coupes are used to push texture to extremes at opposing ends of the spectrum: utiltised in soft, delicate, light-filled transparent yarns of recycled polyester fibres are woven onto silk organza and set free into fringes while elsewhere bolder, thicker yarns are used to explosive, liberating effect.
Tailoring and outerwear remains powerful, realised oversized and beautiful classic shapes with an array of subversive details including hidden double lapels, high side slits and bright pops of contrast linings. Silk satin quilted sleeves and jewellery button details add an elevated softness while proportions are played with in the form of cuffed hems on voluminous trousers. Elsewhere tops and bottoms are paired together in intentionally mismatched textures upending expectations for the silhouette.

ROKSANDA X FILA
As the original sports brand that daringly opened up sportswear views well beyond the sports field, FILA cultivates an innovative drive which naturally leads to unexpected collaborations and surprising couplings. The newest installment in this series of progressive trespassings is the collaboration with ROKSANDA.
A graduate of Central Saint Martins with training in Architecture and Applied Arts in her native Belgrade, Roksanda Ilincic founded the namesake label ROKSANDA more than fifteen years ago, gaining accolades for her unique use of color, architectural yet flowing shapes, innovative use of fabrics, and dedicated focus on craftsmanship.
A woman designing for women, ROKSANDA keeps channeling a personal definition of beauty, creating pieces that reveal the wearer’s personality while providing a sense of shelter and refuge through their unique design. Colors and shapes reveal an ongoing dialogue with modern and contemporary art, as part of a multidisciplinary approach in which art, dance, and fashion meet.
ROKSANDA x FILA is the encounter between two very different identities to create a new one, at once unexpected and authentic. ROKSANDA’s blown-up, dramatic shapes, and vibrant colors meet the technicality and straightforwardness of FILA, blending an artistic sense of feminine empowerment with the pragmatism of sport-style.
In devising the collection, ROKSANDA worked around her very own themes of shelter and protection, which she brought into the outdoors, in contact with the elements, according to the active FILA ethos. The collection revolves around humongous duvets that wrap the body allowing the wearer to seek refuge into their volumes, mixed with leisurewear inspired by parachutes incorporating FILA technical and high-performance fabrics.
A selection of leggings, t-shirts, sports bras, and jackets grounds the offer, which is completed with padded bags and oversized moon boots. The dialogue between the respective identities carries over in the color palette: an idiosyncratic mix of the tropic, porcelain, black, and fluoro orange with notes of chalk, champagne, butter, pearl, taupe, and fluoro pink.
“Growing up in Serbia, I cherish personal memories of how much we all loved FILA pieces coming from Italy – says Roksanda – This collection allowed me to give a new point of view on such a beloved heritage: one that merges my shapes and colors with a sense of performance and the outdoors. The soft, enveloping message is perfectly timely, I believe”
