For the Fall Winter 2022-23 collection, Francesco Murano reflects on the contemporary value and meaning of femininity, celebrating a woman wholooks to the future without abandoning the harmony of the classical world.
The woman of Francesco Murano is a woman with a fresh gaze; she reaffirms herself and stays true to her natural balance, unshaken by time, her roots deeply intertwined with Hellenistic aesthetic.
The collection is inspired by Le Corbusier’s Modulor, an anthropometric scale of proportions meant to bring a harmonious human dimension to architecture. The creative director conceives a collection that designs a new architecture of the human shape.
The result is a new shape, inspired by human anatomy – its harmonious curves and its geometries; it is a romantic silhouette, structured yet evocative of a timeless femininity. Thus, anatomy blends with art – the collection is at the crossroads between classical rigor and formal elegance, between smooth shapes and defined structure.
The collection is an interpretation of contradictions: it tells stories of sinuosity and strength, of conscious and subconscious, of Classicism and of the future canons. The woman of Francesco Murano finds a peaceful balance between these contrasting elements.
It all starts with a study of the human body and its shapes. Draped dresses and mini dresses collide with rigid, structured blazers, that are paired with loose trousers; it is a dance between clear, geometric cuts and the elegant drapes of tops and accessories.
The influence of the Modulorscale is palpable in the sartorial blazers – their clear cuts that redefine the female silhouette using boat necklines and broad shoulder pads. The pieces are in a sort of perpetual motion, inspired by the shape of the body yet redesigning it at the same time. The creative director is loyal to the neutral colors that distinguish the brand, and he explores them further, adding new shades to his palette: powder blue, pale blue, dusty rose. Colors that subtly reveal the poetry behind the collection.
The main fabric used for this collection is wool crepe, cool wool and cotton enriched with dusty rose smooth leather and powder blue suede – details that confer strength and structure. For the draped items, Francesco Murano partners with Luxury Jersey and once again adopts jersey as his fabric of choice, which allows the drapery to conform to and embrace the female shape.
