RAINMAKER Autumn Winter 2022 – 2023 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo
The runway movie of the 22AW collection was shot in the Maizuru Red Brick Park, one of historical facility in Maizuru City.
Maizuru is a port city in northern Kyoto along the coast of the Sea of Japan, where it has a deep history and abundant nature.
The city is known for its historical red brick constructions built from the Meiji era to the Taisho era, some of which are designated as National Important Cultural Properties, with high historical value in Japan.
The landscape of entire red brick warehouses lined up in the park, a current tourist exchange facility in Maizuru City, remind us of a nostalgic past scene.
The presentation movie was directed by Photographer Taro Mizutani, with Hidero Nakagane as the stylist, and KND, a sound creator based in Kyoto who is also active as a sound engineer, supported for the music.
The combination of the beautiful landscape reflected by the red brick warehouses and the latest RAINMAKER 22AW collection are weaved into this beautiful movie.

About the RAINMAKER collection
The latest 22AW collection includes a new Balmacaan coat which has a removable collar, and the replacement collar is made from the well-established Nishijin-ori “Hosoo” fabric, which has a history of more than 300 years.
Nishijin-ori fabric made by Hosoo is also available in items such as pants and shoes, giving the collection a gorgeous color.
The kimono-like shaped oriental coat with padding can also be arranged into an extreme cold winter outerwear with a mix of oriental mood by layering a belted vest with primaloft padding on top of it.
The cardigan and oversized scarf made of high-quality cashmere have the bulky texture with finest touch finished with mink processing, providing a comfortable wearing feeling.
“Rip knitting” is a traditional Japanese sustainable technique that tears fabrics into threads and re-knits them into new fabrics.
The vest is hand-knitted by torn Polartec fleece fabric, one of a unique item from the collection that combines functionality of heat retention, light weight and breathability with handmade warmth.
Hakama Trousers are bold wide pants designed with 3 wide pleats on the waist inspired by the hakama, which is a shape of Japanese kimono pants as its name suggests. The rich bulge and drape created by the luxuriously applied fabric create an elegant movement.
About Maizuru Red Brick Park
Collective form of red brick warehouses in Maizuru City built from the Meiji era to the Taisho era after the opening of the former Navy Maizuru Naval District in 1901 (The year of Meiji 34). Among 8 of the 12 warehouses in Kitasui district in Maizuru City are designated as national important cultural properties, representing as one of the most historically valuable constructions in Japan.
Since 2012, the warehouses are now utilized as a tourism exchange facility in Maizuru City.
