Saint Fleur
Saint Fleur was founded in Paris by Chinese designers Sani (Yuqing) Bai & Hua Ren. Sani in Chinese can translate to “Saint” in English, Hua translates to “Fleur” in French. Sani and Hua build on real life stories to create designs that celebrate the special bond between them and the diversity of womanhood. Their collections encourage girls and young women to pursue their dreams; they are designed to mix and match, just like the different aspects of women’s beauty.
Spring/Summer 2023 Collection – Cycle of life
All in the universe is a cycle from birth to death and from death to rebirth. The beginning is also the ending. Saint Fleur has germinated and is now growing. Soon it will blossom and may inevitably fall. The designers explore the idea of rebirth and celebrate existence at all its stages.
Charlotte Shao
Charlotte Shao studied at Central Saint Martins and Parsons prior to launching SISIO. “SIS” stands for “sister”. Charlotte proudly calls herself a feminist and insists that society has an historical propensity to be unjust to women. With SISIO, she creates beautiful clothes that protect, console and empower.
Spring/Summer 2023 Collection – Bipolar
We live in a time of over information. It leads to exaggerated feelings across the spectrum – happiness, sadness, fear, pain, worry, anger…
In that moment of struggle, there are “twins” inside one’s inner heart: one with a Joy Face and the other a Sad Face. To those on either side of this emotion barrier, who devote their lives to relieving suffering, understand the universal value of emotional support. That’s the meaning gleaned from the designer’s personal life; learning the process of settlement.
r.l.e
r.l.e is a London-born, sustainability focused, designer brand founded in 2021 by Chinese designer Qixin (Cici) Zhang. The brand name is a play on the word ‘rule’ without the letter ‘u’, it stands for r.l.e’s unique brand ethos: Being yourself without any definition. Drawing on inspiration from Mother Nature and insights from ego, soul and love, r.l.e has formed its own unique and romantic aesthetic. r.l.e re-renders every cut piece of pattern paper and fabric to a remakes of brand labels, yarns and shopping bags. r.l.e believes that sustainability must become a way of life.
Spring/Summer 2023 Collection – 波 WATER
The r.l.e Spring/Summer 2023 collection illustrates how the world is one of ‘waves’ – one that can be a guide on an exploration of the vibration frequencies between human emotions and connect to a spiritual realm. In keeping with Qixin’s design tenet, “Everyone’s inner heart has a flower growing inside”, Cici Zhang combines water forms, vibration waves, and inner heart flowers to reflect a person’s discovery of their inner world. “They feel the true bloom when they feel the ‘waves,’” she said.
Cici and her team experimented with 3D yarns of cut-out fabrics to weave and crochet accessories and garments.
WOOD HOUSE
WOOD HOUSE is a gender fluid brand founded by Julian Woodhouse. Initially a menswear brand launched in Korea it was the first black-owned brand to show at Seoul Fashion Week. WOOD HOUSE celebrates gender non-conforming identities by mixing athleisure, lingerie and loungewear. Julian served in the US Army as a disciplined Field Artillery Officer before embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Ushered by some important women in his life: Lauren Ash of Black Girl in Om, ATL beauty expert & DJ Adora Tokyo, Julian’s childhood best friend and sister Patrice Freeman, Julian chose a new path that honors the divine balance between masculinity and femininity.
Spring/Summer 2023 Collection – Star child
“Emerging into what I’ve always been, stardust. A creation of the one infinite God.”
The collection, in hues of green made from sustainably sourced silk, represents a butterfly donning element of its silk cocoon; a reminder of the journey taken to arrive at wholeness. Centering on the strength gathered through unapologetic self-introspection; the healing spiritual work it took to overcome the earth-shattering realization that one is in a narcissistic relationship. Arriving at forgiveness, the collection becomes a sigh of acceptance; that despite the pain, even our most trying experiences come from a divine place; a manifestation of purpose.
