POSTER GIRL Spring Summer 2023 present Sex Never Left at London Fashion Week

London-based designers and Central Saint Martin’s alumni Francesca Capper and Natasha Sommerville reinterpret the definition of sexy for their Spring Summer 2023 Collection. Driven by nostalgia and femininity at the core of their design, this season the pairs ultimate inspiration was themselves; having heavily referenced their Autumn Winter 2021 Collection. The practice of referencing the past to inform the present laid a path to maturation and elevation in their design acumen.

The brand, which has garnered a mega-fan base including the likes of Kylie Jenner, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, set forth a powerful primitive undertone found at the core of the collection, as the designers also reflected on the current state and climate of the world. Sex-core meets prehistoric.

The collection features rhinestone encrusted hardware juxtaposed with ultra-powerful femme cuts, draped and flowing silk chiffons, laser engraved latex and lacquered lace, silk tulle ruffles and suede tassel trims in earthy tones such as deep purples and neutral camel shades. This range is contrasted by high-octane crystallized elements synonymous with the brand.

Balancing the unpolished styles with the iconic POSTER GIRL chainmail – which has evolved to a subtle matte finish, embodies the essence of what it means to be a POSTER GIRL. Sexy. Outrageous. Bold.

The designers introduced denim to their offering with jeans and corsets that have a lacquered finish, reflected through the lace detailing on the micro skirts and dress hems. The corsetry is continued in the form of latex, lace and fishnet. The return of the iconic heart crystal buttons featured in the core shapewear styles has expanded to include leather and chiffon looks, with heart metal eyelets making space for organically laced seams and skirt splits.

The infamous shapewear classics at the core DNA of the POSTER GIRL have become fully sustainable as of Spring Summer 2023. Produced using recycled yarn only, this category has been developed to be durable, supportive and flattering whilstremaining soft.

For the first time, POSTER GIRL has expanded into another category to create handbags. Continuing from the success of the Resort show in Miami, exaggerated buckle hardware is embellished on four newly developed handbag styles and throughout the footwear selection which offers bold and exciting textures. The luxe hardware is also found on micro skirts and low-slung leather hip belts.
