Anna October Spring Summer 2023 collection centred around the theme of the Pleasure Garden. It emphasises the spirit of the brand, aimed to shine out the light of women’s femininity and grace.

The designer refers to her personal Pleasure Garden, built on a piece of pristine nature in Ukraine near a small wooden house. Returning to the country after 6 months of living in Paris, she found herself charmed by the beauty of its nature like never before. While she was nurturing her garden, she worked on the Anna October Spring Summer 2023 collection. The vibe of excitement transformed into a collection tailored to satisfy women’s desire to be pleased by the way they look.

The designer seeks to find a delicate visual language to express her feelings. A bustier of the dresses is constructed from tulip petals, while the top is draped and stitched to make it look like it is assembled from the textile plaits, which refers to a known femininity symbol in Ukraine.

Dresses are the highlight of the SS23 collection, some of them are one-of-a-kind. These are crocheted pieces, which took hours to produce. The examples of the patterns and techniques Anna found at vintage markets in Greece and France, also from the archival collection of the Ukrainian Ivan Honchar Museum, in particular two pieces of domestic household from the 1950s. Anna re-imagined rustic pieces into examples of sumptuous textiles. All the crocheted garments she sculpted on the mannequin, adjusting and stitching each knitting piece manually.

This approach Anna has practised for years: she believes that the body should shape the dress. The designer is particularly fascinated by women’s breasts, so the bustier in each collection is constructed precisely to feel and look good.

One of the pieces is inspired by vintage girls’ swimming suits from the 1950s. Being impressed by the sweetness and preciseness of the cut, she reproduced it for her women’s collection SS 2023.
