Vivetta Fall Winter 2023 – 2024 collection at Milan Fashion Week
Girl band Shangri-Las’ Weiss and Ganser sisters, pop princesses in the 1960s. The Lisbon sisters from Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides. Vivetta writes an ode to women based on a fantasy straddling romanticism, purity, dream and surrealism in a unique kaleidoscope of fascinations.
Driven by the search for codes representing innocence and femininity, transformation and change in fashion, the designer imagined a Vivetta Fall Winter 2023 – 2024 collection wardrobe in a suspended era. As the late Sixties meet the Nineties, nightwear embraces daywear.
Passionate about contrasts, Vivetta’s practice spans volumes and lengths while investigating the present and the past.
Traditional male and female roles entwine and blend into each other, and masculine tailored blazers make room for daring miniskirts and dresses embellished with large shiny gemstones.
With a palette indulging in delicate pastels as well as the most sensual of scarlets, pure white and deep black, daywear embraces the alluring nocturnal mood of boxer shorts and bralettes, dressing gowns, negligees, pyjamas and chiffon nightgowns. Lace-edged pieces include skirts, blazers and tiny, matelassé slip dresses with metallic threads running through the hemlines to shape gravity-defying waves – the same ones sculpting the necklines of knitwear with a magical flair.
Bows, expressing an innocent approach to femininity, play with scale to create refined details and more. Bows enhance crepe de chine evening gowns and inform precious embroideries on coats and illusion tulle; they even become larger-than-life 3D drapery emphasising outerwear and long crêpe de chine slip dresses.
Bows are also worn to tie long blond braids together. Echoing the dreamy surrealism cherished by the designer is the image of tight, thin braids made of hair woven together, now chasing each other as they create the season’s print. A celebration of movement and freedom, the braid print reflects the attributes of created beings: infinite, in constant motion, symmetrical and harmonious.
In broad this array of references, what’s retro goes contemporary, as suggested by the brand’s shoe universe – this introduces high square-toe boots winking at go-go designs to dress today’s icons. Suspended in time are also Vivetta’s Mary Jane shoes with glitter bows replacing more conventional straps. And even more dazzling is the crystal rain on loafers, pumps and boots with sharp lines – the same seen in high-heel and sport shoe hybrids.
For Accessories of Vivetta Fall Winter 2023 – 2024 collection, Feminine with a hint of irony, Vivetta’s FW23 jewellery echoes the collection. Pieces include a hot pink metallic armour bra imitating the shape of the breasts, tied to the chest with Swarovski chains, while braids come as crystal-studded enamel brass earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. A symbol of prosperity and generative power, the phallic element returns on bijoux as a gracefully mischievous, protective lucky charm.
