KidSuper Spring Summer 2024, Colm Dillane brings theater to PFW
June 24, 2023 Colm Dillane brings theater to Paris Fashion Week for his KidSuper Spring/Summer 2024 Fashion Show.
Colm Dillane proves yet again that he cannot be contained and never shies away from a challenge: the founder of KidSuper created one of today’s most sought-after brands by trusting his imagination and following his dreams; making it in his image. Colm’s infectious and illuminating energy has bolstered its meteoric rise – boundaries do not exist.
“I never got good advice from someone who didn’t take risks.” Colm Dillane
For his KidSuper Spring Summer 2024 show, Colm brought yet another of his passions to Paris Fashion Week: theater. Taking place at the historic Théâtre de l’Odéon at 6:30pm on June 24th, 2023, the KidSuper Spring/Summer 2024 Show is an original play conceived and written by Colm Dillane. To bring his vision to life Dillane collaborated with artist and scenographer Thierry Dreyfus, Franco-American theater company The Big Funk, choreographer Leo Walk and dance company La Marche Bleue.
The play thrives on the eccentricity, unique visual and narrative styles KidSuper is known for: Colm Dillane, in a very personal reflection on creativity, originality, and recognition, strips to expose his very personal creative process. KidSuper Spring Summer 2024 collection plays the KidSuper playbook masterfully: art, colors, prints, collages on everything from classic streetwear to his now iconic animated tailoring and coats.
About KidSuper
KidSuper took Paris Fashion Week by storm with its original films when it entered the official calendar in 2020 with the celebrated everything’s Fake Until It’s Real collection for SS21, followed by a collection of short films for FW21, a Docu-Series short film for SS22 and a TV Show Pilot for FW22. Colm was the first American to win the LVMH Karl Lagerfeld Prize in 2021 and the first designer to be invited to guest design the Louis Vuitton Homme collection for Fall/Winter 2023. He became an official CFDA member in 2023.
The last two Paris KidSuper shows demonstrated Dillane’s singular take on fashion: creative, performative, fun, and lighthearted. His SS23 show, Breathing Life Into the Inanimate, demonstrated how Dillane transfers his subversive, vivacious art into his KidSuper collections and confirmed that Colm Dillane is first and foremost an artist, and it’s his art that is the base of all that is KidSuper. His FW23 show, Funny Business, poked at the comedic aspect of fashion when Tyra Banks, the “maître de cérémonie”, hosted a trailblazing one-hour comedy show at the iconic Casino de Paris featuring Yvonne Orji, Jeff Ross, Stavros Halkias, Andrew Santino, Andrew Schultz, Theo Von, Fary and Matteo Lane.
KidSuper & Meta
This years’ triumphs have propelled KidSuper to new heights and strengthened its already admirable collaboration game. Colm Dillane joins a range of empowered creatives for the launch of Meta’s new multi-year brand campaign – “It’s Your World.” – a mantra and call to action for the next generation to pave their path on their own terms. At the heart of the campaign is an invitation, and celebration of all the ways people use Meta’s universe of products to connect and make awesome things happen in their lives.
Creators and artists like Dillane are a central muse for the tech brand, personifying the possibilities when unapologetically leaning into your interests, and using Meta’s products to forge a totally new lane.
KidSuper and Meta kicked off their exciting new collaboration with a launch event at the KidSuper factory in Brooklyn on June 6th, and the debut of a creative spot featuring Dillane and an eclectic mix of friends from NBA player Jordan Clarkson to his mother, Betty Jane Quinn. The spot began rolling out on Instagram, Facebook and select broadcast and streaming platforms in the US on June 12th. KidSuper illustrations were featured throughout Meta’s Reels SuperStudio – a collaborative installation inviting new creative content creation – at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity from June 19th to June 23rd. The Paris Fashion Week show is sponsored by Meta and includes surprise and delight elements from the campaign including a co-created design worn by Jordan Clarkson.
