FETICO SS24 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo entitled Do Not Disturb

Inspiration of FETICO Spring/Summer 2024

Hong Kong singer-songwriter and actor Faye Wong is the muse for The FETICO Spring/Summer 2024 collection. Faye, known as the queen of Asian pop, was once a sensation that swept the world in the 1990s. She was also a fashion icon of the time who wore avant-garde costumes on stage and sophisticated 90s clothes off stage. Her somewhat provocative and nonchalant style continues to fascinate designer Emi Funayama.

Funayama’s trip to Paris in March, for the first time in a while, has had a significant impact on this season. “THE HOTEL”, an art book by French artist Sophie Calle, was another source of inspiration for the collection which Funayama happened to pick up while she was in Paris. This book of works, in which Sophie worked as a maid at a hotel in Italy, depicts the rooms in which tourists stayed. It’s an exciting mixture of curiosity and thrills looking into people’s private lives. The interior of the hotel has a classical and nostalgic feel, which Funayama says was inspired by an ephemeral and romantic mood.

FETICO SS24, this season’s theme “Do Not Disturb” is a sign that can be hung on the doorknob of a guest room to easily express one’s intention. Self-identity is something you discover by yourself. If you can be honest with what you like and enjoy being yourself, regardless of gender, age, or title, your life will be more content. You will cherish being comfortable in your daily life just as free as when you go on a trip. Do not disturb women living their own life freely says Funayama.

The collection is designed to make people who love fashion look beautiful, give them confidence in making decisions and feel self-love.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

FETICO SS24 collection combines essences of this season’s muse Faye Wong, Sophie Calle’s ˎTHE HOTELˏ and Funayama’s pursuit of a design that enhances the beauty of women. A summer wool micro mini dress blended with mohair, the sheer silk cotton jacket and trousers, and the frilled skirt are reminiscent of stage costumes. All of them are elegant yet sensual in which you can enjoy showing your skin, with a silhouette influenced by the 90’s.

It also incorporates motifs inspired by the interior of “THE HOTEL”. The wallpaper-inspired peony pattern is used for the pajama-style shirt and pant set, and the velour bodysuit. Inspired by the decoration of the bed frame, the punching process is applied to the collars of denim pants and tops. Embroidery that mimics bed linen and furniture patterns is used as feature on the front and hem of the dress. Gathered tops and miniskirts that evoke curtains also add a romantic touch to the collection.

The lingerie detail, which the brand specializes in, has a soft texture and hard embellishments, giving it a more intimate tone. The lace-knit long dress incorporates a corset line comfortable to wear and gently snuggling the skin. The key color red gives the collection a sensual and provocative look. A unique handkerchief hem cami dress with soft purple lace embroidered tulle hem, crossed back straps and elegant lace-up. The new bras and swimwear are finished with items you can enjoy layering with clothes, halter-neck straps and cutouts below the chest.

ABOUT THE ACCESSORIES

FETICO’s first bag, and sunglasses made in collaboration with the Japanese eyewear brand 817 BLANC LNT have been released. There are two types of bags, a handbag with a kiss lock closure and a boxy thin strapped tote bag both in a rose pattern reminiscent of the interior of ˎTHE HOTELˏ embossed on patent PVC available in two colors: black and red. The sunglasses are based on the new 817 BLANC LNT oval shape in three colors: black, marble, and bordeaux.

The shoes are new clogs with either rhinestones or studs. Narrow belts decorated with rhinestones or studs just like the shoes, and a wide belt with studded motifs of the bed frame of “THE HOTEL” accentuate the outfit.
