Meanswhile SS24 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo

Meanswhile SS24 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo, this season’s theme is “more with less,” words advocated by American architect and systems theorist, Buckminster Fuller.

Conceptualized alongside the idea of “less is more,” pioneered by Mies van Der Rohe, this collection explores the concept of subtractive “less is more” and multiplicative “more with less” design through these two theories.

The first runway show scheduled for 2020AW was cancelled due to the impacts of COVID.

Key pieces developed for that show were integrated into the following season’s show, resulting in a runway that combined pieces from both 2021SS and 2020AW.

This was the first and formative experience with runways.

This Meanswhile SS24, the brand have decided to carry over that experience, combining SS and AW to create a collection presented under one theme.

Changing seasons do not necessarily call for clear delineations in a wardrobe.

From city to nature, long-distance travel and changes in weather, Meanswhile present items that seamlessly adjust to various situations.

Various situations that may be obvious to some, when viewed by another may seem new or peculiar.

Encompassing fashion and runway, Meanswhile present a collection that straddles the seasons, and invite all on a journey to experience the evocations that accompany each one.
