PAUL&JOE SS24 / Spring Summer 2024 during Paris Fashion Week
“Make it sparkle to better light up the stage” is how Sophie Mechaly imagined PAUL&JOE Spring Summer 24 collection. The clothes are inspired by the world of Comedia dell’ Arte in 16th century Italy.
These professional troupes attracted audiences by bringing women on stage for the first time. Like Harlequin and Columbine, the Paul & Joe woman is optimistic and full of energy. She’s independent and free to do as she pleases. The fundamental theme of the house is female emancipation in the Arts.
PAUL&JOE SS24 collection is both scenic and enchanting: white cotton voile with contrasting black tassels, gigantic polka dots on precious mikado, superposed ruffles on cotton chiffon with applied chantilly lace. The house’s magical, dreamlike universe is reflected in the new bestiary revisited through giant trompe l’œil magic cards. Clothes are glittering: sequins, crystals, rhinestones, feathers, flowers, jeweled buttons…
The signature piece of this collection: the embroidered bloomer worn under tight little jackets. A fresh color palette completes the look: yuzu lemon, marshmallow pink and cerulean blue. The watchwords of this collection: “no mask, but abundance”, just as Colombine was.
