Victoria Beckham Pre-Fall 2024 Collection

Collegiate codes are founded in physicality. Constructed to align the active with the formal, it embodies the elegance of ease. For the Pre-Fall 2024 Collection, Victoria Beckham mirrors her ongoing investigations of movement in the tradition of preppy dressing.

Through the creative cycle of the brand, where ideas introduced in the Runway Collection trickle into the Pre-Collection and beyond, established proposals take new form. The heritage wardrobe of the British countryside – a source of recreation and inspiration for Victoria Beckham – evolves with faint memories of the school uniform, while the dancewear of the designer’s formative years of ballet and musical theatre echoes in silhouettes.

Tailoring adapted from the sturdy country wardrobe paves the way for a handsome femininity. A suit in heritage check cuts a cropped, flared trousers, while its hacked-off sleeves reveal the lining of the jacket.

The lapel-less blazer of a country skirt-suit features contrast side-panels that flatter the eye and derriere darts that lift the physique. A cropped green felt jacket with a matching skirt is spliced from a pea coat and a flight blouson. Tailored cargo trousers in suiting fabrics balance the rugged and the refined, while a Breton-striped cropped blazer and black and navy jackets adorned with gold buttons reflect a nautical undercurrent.

Bourgeois archetypes take shape in cable-knit cricket vests and asymmetric pointelle knits deconstructed and overlapped into shawl collar silhouettes. Twinsets constructed from knitted jumpers feature armhole knit-outs that allow the sleeves to fold up over the arms and tie around the neck.

The wired dancer’s t-shirt proposed in the Runway Collection is deconstructed into fluid jersey dresses with slinky-like wired necklines, inviting the wearer to twist and style them. Wires reappear in the plackets, armholes, hems and cuffs of denim jackets and shirts, likewise enabling the imbuement of sculpting and movement within the garments. Denim abounds in jeans and asymmetric skirts in classic dark and mid-blue washes. Long jersey dresses with petal-shaped cut-outs fuse the formal with an old-world air of activewear.

A series of tea dresses take inspiration from the antique cloths of country house interiors, some under-pinned with delicate lace bodies. Sensual 1930s’ bias-cut dresses are amplified with padded bras and lace panels, some appear inside-out or in delicate hopsack- like fabric fused with camisoles, and the ‘Bella dress’ with its characteristic front gathering – a signature silhouette – is reinterpreted in photographic red and black floral print. One dress features an image of the moon as an ode to the infinite night sky of the countryside.

Details of Victoria Beckham Pre-Fall 2024, neckerchiefs are rendered in the cinematic colour compositions of the collection: golden macadamia, lemonade, sand, harvest yellow and tobacco, contrasted by sky and Oxford blues, lilac, russet, carmine and khaki. They transform into foulard tote bags with leather trims and handles adorned with scarf rings, in micro and large dimensions.

Launched in the Runway Collection, a V-stitched silhouette inspired by men’s beauty bags magnifies into a top-handle bag with a B buckle, and shrinks into a smaller size with an adjustable strap that turns it into a cross-body bag. The Chain Pouch replaces its emblematic wristwatch front strap chain with a B buckle. Shaped like an augmented bum bag, the soft Girella emerges in padded leather framed by wristwatch-chain handle rings.

A Victoria Beckham classic, graphic neoprene thigh-high boots in the colours of the season are re-energised with banana-shaped heels. The sculpted heel reappears on preppy pointed loafer pumps, and on open-toe heeled sandals with elegant butterfly-shaped uppers.

The handsome femininity at the heart of the Victoria Beckham Pre-Fall 2024 proposal is embodied in a pointed loafer slipper with a bridle hardware adornment, alongside the pointed slip-on leather brogues evolved from the Runway Collection.
