Terror in the woods, Cocaine bear on the loose! After seeing the comedy horror film Cocaine Bear, Dean and Dan Caten were inspired to go back to their woods for the Dsquared2 Pre-Fall 2024 women’s collection. The cute couple staying at the Canadian lodge aren’t about to let the crazed bear ruin their time or style, as they go about their nature pursuits: fishing, hiking and sightseeing at the falls—elements from their adventures are mixed into their clothes. True blue Canadian roots of outerwear and lumberjack check are combined with lived-in corduroy, denim, mini dresses and accessories with gleaming hardware.

Cast in a Canadian Autumnal palette of Dsquared2 PF24 Womenswear Collection from ambers to reds, rusts to smokey woodsy browns and greens, women’s looks are topped with outdoorsy coats, including a vintage-washed shearling, plush faux furs, and a lumberjack check jacket. A bonded yellow and tan felted wool raincoat is thrown on while observing Niagara’s spectacular display.

Signature of Dsquared2 is denim, these are worn with a denim treated with smatterings of crystals—some red to mimic a blood stain, a denim mini skirt and denim mini shirt dress, wide-leg chinos which sit on the hips, or super tight low slung leather pants, and cozy chunky cabin sweaters. Tawny brown cord and other denim washes are soiled with rust and dirt, leaving an overall warm-toned, used effect.

The bear scratches and claws his way through the Dsquared2 PF24 womenswear collection, leaving his mark on outerwear, knits, boots, scarves, sweaters and jeans. Its claw tears are seen on a felted red-and-black pieces: a mini skirt, the back of jacket with shearling collar, and on the sides of long boots. When dusk falls on the mountain, she throws on her spangled one-shouldered black tulle dress and a pair of knee-high wet weather boots—she’ll hike to get to the party.

The back-to-back Dsquared2 gold metal hardware is the definitive detail on shoulder bags in quilted tweed and velvet. The gold interlocked D2D motif also appears on top of velvet baseball caps and belts. The Gothic Belt Bag is moodier, reflecting the collection’s goth girl spirit, in washed denim, cord or red-and-black check—or in its evening iterations of violet or black satin. Hiking boots feature high heels and rubber soles, and multi-strap velvet pointed ballerinas and pumps are topped with the D2D hardware.
