AREA Resort 2024 Collection, this season AREA immersed ourselves in the world of Pop art, and the concept of celebrating the ordinary or every day. In challenging the conventions of a traditional wardrobe, AREA integrated these notions into a collection of versatile pieces designed to take you from day to night.
AREA started the research with the study of Roy Lichtenstein’s early works, finding inspiration in his landscape paintings. The brand incorporated elements from thr iconic Ben Day dot technique and striking sun rays to construct and deconstruct dot, star, and sunray motifs within the AREA Resort 2024 collection.
In AREA exploration of these motifs, the brand rendered an eye-catching artwork of stars and polka dots into a sophisticated jacquard tweed fabric. This tweed was used to craft cocktail pieces finished with medallion crystal accents ideal for the holidays.
From there, the brand developed the dot motif into a rich cabochon stud on bonded leather. Patterned with sharp appliqué star cutouts, these styles offer a bold reinterpretation of traditional party dressing. For daywear this season, AREA Resort 2024 embellished the dot motif onto cotton gabardine workwear in pastel shades of yellow and pink, reworking the traditionally masculine concept of uniform as feminine daywear separates.
On denim, AREA scaled down the graphic dot into delicate prints and crystal embellishments, adorning wardrobe essentials like biker jackets, miniskirts, and straight-leg jeans. Infusing Pop art motifs into daywear, reimagined Lichtenstein’s sun rays as striking laser-etched details, imparting distinctive flair to otherwise ordinary fabric and wardrobe pieces.
The AREA Resort 2024 collection is captured by close collaborator Katie Burnet whose graphic images artfully play with composition and layered elements of dots, light, and shadow that reflect the Pop art essence within the collection.
