Kozaburo FW24 / Fall Winter 2024 at New York Fashion Week entitled NIGHTFALL

After the sun sets, when the night falls. −The Kozaburo Fall Winter 2024 – 2025 collection by Kozaburo Akasaka expresses a new scenery of utopia through his continued musing on the subject of individuality, this time visions conjured from a science fiction novel and a personal trip.

Akasaka closed his eyes and followed the scenery reflected behind his eyelids.

What came to mind was Roland Deschain, the main character of American novelist Stephen King’s science fiction novel “THE DARK TOWER: The Gunslinger”. Set in a vast desert, the story of a solitary wanderer regaining his humanity through encounters and relationships seems to echo Akasaka at this very moment.

In the early fall of last year, his long-awaited trip to Houston, Texas, also led to exploration.

Rothko Chapel was founded by philanthropists Dominic and John de Menil. Inside the octagonal building, there are paintings by Mark Rothko based on a deep purple that blends all colors. The outdoor pond center features Barnett Newman’s Broken Obelisk, a sculpture dedicated to Dr. King.

The vision became an image, which resulted in a fluid style.

Logwood dyeing is known as the “Blood Tree” because it turns red when left in the wild. The Mayan indigenous people traditionally used it. Purple and dark blue, whose expressions and textures change depending on the situation at the time.

Details of Kozaburo FW24, Japaesen work jackets and haori-style shawl collar coats emphasize the fit and new iteration of the collar. Honeycomb sashiko is an updated version of the brand’s signature fabric, sashiko.

Oversized shirts and pants with experimental yet practical details on a checkered fabric that evokes the scent of Texas. From the Wave Of Sand series, IM pants with a new roomy fit, and skirt-type in grid-patterned corduroy fabric, are now available.

A new romantic landscape was created from inspiration, much like a multi-religious chapel, Broken Obelisk floating on the water, and a dark tower to aim for.

This season of Kozaburo FW24 collection can be said to be a water reflection of that scenery.
