ACT N°1 FW24 / Fall Winter 2024 at Milan Fashion Week

The new ACT N°1 FW24 collection and its representation through clothes and images is a homage to cinema, a love poem for the art of film and its analog language, from the past to the present. Not just love for the images flowing on the big screen, but for the now vanished ritual of sitting in a room in the dark and be enchanted by the silver screen. The beginning of cinema, the filming techniques, the expressive language removed from words and focused on acting, is what Luca Lin has chosen to communicate his new ACT N°1 Fall Winter 2024 collection.

In the video, it is the faces of the characters that narrate an everyday feeling that becomes pain, anguish, and the suffering of living today. Each look is designed to communicate a different animus. ACT N°1 FW24 collection starts by deconstructing the male wardrobe and a female garment, the corset with its laces and limitations. Layering speaks of social superstructures to be overcome. The effect is loose and over, with slipped and overlapping garments. The fit is loose in both outerwear and trousers with an elastic waist. Jackets are super-over, exaggerated in their proportions. The new shirt is the product of the layering of three different shirts, the t-shirts are one on top of the other, as are the jackets.

The colors, used in degradé, tell of a clash between urban grey and earthy natural tones. Anthracite, concrete, cloud, earth, beige, neutrals, the contrast between black and white. Military green.

The story ends with a sense of liberation and integration through the representation of Mahjong, a traditional game in China, which unites different ages and cultures. And an intense lesson: war is suffering and no matter what war is, no matter what side you are on. War is only just if it is called Peace.

The name has a precise meaning referring to the first act of life that inspired the designers in developing the brand, with a focus on the personal background, their childhood and cultural heritage. Each season the collection aims to tell a story regarding inclusivity and women’s condition all over the world. At the start of 2023 founders Luca Lin and Galib Gassanoff have decided to part ways: Lin is at the helm of the brand both on a creative and a strategic point of view.
