Joseph Grima wears Stone Island Ghost Pieces Spring Summer 2024 and capture photos by Nick Waplington.
February 20, 2024 Lightness and experimentation with volume is the focus this season for STONE ISLAND GHOST, the monochromatic Stone Island collection based on reduction in design. With details stripped away and each garment all one tone, design decisions and materiality become even more specific, always with a sense of uniform.
Actor Jason Statham, director Ken-Tonio Yamamoto and architect Heidulf Gerngross have been photographed by David Sims, following the new campaign iconic images, under the artistic direction of Ferdinando Verderi.
To capture the elevated stealth of STONE ISLAND GHOST PIECES, this season’s collection has been also shot by artist and photographer Nick Waplington.
Responding to STONE ISLAND GHOST, Nick Waplington captured architect Joseph Grima wearing Stone Island Ghost Pieces Spring Summer 2024 collection. The images continue the new Stone Island campaign project, becoming a form of research into members of the Stone Island community. Waplington photographed Grima within Brutalist architecture of Oscar Niemeyer ‘s Palazzo Mondadori in Segrate – Milan, wearing STONE ISLAND GHOST pieces such as the Cupro Raso bomber, the kimono-sleeve field jacket and the O-VENTILE trench coat.
THE COLLECTION STONE ISLAND GHOST PIECES
The collection is concentrated on research into two fabrics, both with very different hand feels. Cupro Raso is derived from cotton fibres yet has the feel of silk, with a heritage in military use. This season, it has been cut into a zip-up bomber with PrimaLoft® padding to create the sense of light volume.
By contrast, trench coats and field jackets have been cut from 100% organic cotton O-VENTILE, a compact fabric trusted in military uniforms because it is both breathable and waterproof. STONE ISLAND GHOST plays with volume using this strict fabric, with a field jacket cut with kimono sleeves to broaden the back, its hood exaggerated by a two-way drawstring, while a trench coat is given extra volume in the top because of its low-cut waist.
