HARUNOBUMURATA Fall/Winter 2024 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo titled “THREE FARMERS ON THEIR WAY TO A DANCE” on Tuesday 12, March 2024.

The new HARUNOBUMURATA Fall/Winter 2024 collection was inspired by photographer AUGUST SANDER. Through his lifelong work, which is based on the theme of documenting society through portrait photography, he expresses the attributes and humanity of his subjects through their appearance and gestures. This is an artist who tried.

HARUNOBUMURATA’s approach to highlighting each person’s life by visualizing their occupation and assigned role has given HARUNOBUMURATA a new perspective on the process of expressing modern figures through his collections.

The title “three farmers on their way to a dance” comes from one of his iconic photos of SANDER.  Three young farmers, dressed in unfamiliar suits, stare at the camera, symbolically hinting at an era in which they are heading into an uncertain future.  The scenes of these three people finding joy in their attire and living positively even in uncertain times are quiet yet truly humane and moving.

This item is made from double-faced wool and is inspired by the attire of these three farmers.  The sculptural impression seen in his objective photographs of Thunder is expressed by the large collar and its outline, while the mohair boa and compressed knits give a contemporary look to his workers’ attire that endures the harsh cold, HARUNOBUMURATA. This has been reinterpreted in light of the person’s image.

Inspired by an aviator’s coat, the silk-cotton material is decorated with faded floral prints as a metaphor for prosperity and decadence, and is transformed into down jackets and trench coats through a coating process that cuts into a moment of continuity. I am.

This season’s creative process, which uses carefully selected materials from Japan and overseas to construct silhouettes with intentional simplicity and naivety, attempts to bring to light the essence of human beings living in society by approaching their formative nature. This approach was inspired by a photo of a sander.  He elevates these into a contemporary style by combining them with the new BAUER shoe, inspired by a farmer’s wooden shoe, and the new CONSTANTIN bag, named after the sculptor.

To embrace humanity within the simplicity of discovering the essence of things.  This resonates with his expression of luxury advocated by his HARUNOBUMURATA.

From the farmers, through the workers, the city prospered, and then the two sides of the same coin entered decadence.  The video at the entrance of the venue, which corresponds to the Harunobumurata FW24 collection, sensually expresses the transition between decadent elegance and modern elegance, and the show is completed by KIRILL RICHTER’s music that makes you feel the passage of time to look.  Please enjoy his HARUNOBUMURATA Fall/Winter 2024 collection, which is drawn from the perspective of SANDER, who takes the words “observation” and “thinking” as the starting point of his creation.

 * We must be able to bear to see the truth.  Whether it’s convenient or not, I share this truth with my friends who live with me.  We must also pass it on to future generations.  If I, as a healthy human being, are saying that it is immoral for me to see things as they are, rather than as they should be or should be.  I’m sorry for that.  After all, that’s all I can do.  So please tell me.  I want to be honest and tell you the truth.  About our time and about humans. AUGUST SANDER
