Mikage Shin FW24, Introducing “GAME CHANGER,” a collection that embodies the essence of altering the course not just in sports, where the term originally signifies a player who dramatically changes the game flow, but now also represents entrepreneurs and corporations that disrupt traditional market trends and rules.

Adopting the provocative theme “GAME CHANGER” at this moment of time was a natural progression for Mikage Shin, who, with a calm yet passionate voice, spoke of the brand entering a significant transition period post-pandemic. This theme is not just for a season but is envisioned as a lifelong “proposition” for the MIKAGE SHIN brand, signifying a desire to break free from its cocoon in its fourth year. It signals a narrative of “emotion and disintegration,” where elegance is supported by a mad or extreme aesthetic, creating an intense impulse that disassembles understanding and evokes a sense of chaos.

This Mikage Shin Fall/Winter 2024 collection boldly incorporates unconventional material combinations and vivid graphics, marking a distinct departure from previous MIKAGE SHIN collections. While the brand’s mastery in pleats and structural pattern work is enhanced by long fringes crafted by domestic artisans, adding cunningness and strength.

The Mikage Shin FW24 collection features ultimate craftsmanship in denim bonding opal and excessively bleached denim, alongside provocative items like trompe-l’œil and disintegrating portraits on 6Q knit jacquards, infusing the collection with a unique rhythm. Delicate expressions through lace, sheer materials, and laméthread hand-cut jacquards also pepper the collection, embodying the precarious balance between toughness and delicacy, accelerating the essence of MIKAGE SHIN.

Mikage Shin aims to evoke the image of “an enigmatic persona” through music, novels, and films, focusing on extreme craftsmanship. Innovations like hand-cut jacquard weaving with laméthreads introduced for the first time bring dynamism and lightness to the fabric. The brand’s iconic denim utilizes a new technique developed by Japanese artisans, showcasing a fabric full of exposed threads through a meticulous process that left Shin overwhelmed at first sight.

After graduating from Waseda University, Mikage graduated from Parsons School of Design, Department of Fashion Design.

Mikage launched the namesake genderless brand MIKAGE SIHN in New York with the concept of “bringing out the intelligence and strength of the individual”. In 2022, Mikage received the Best Debutante Award from Japan Men’s Fashion Union.
