Études Studio SS25 at Paris Fashion Week presents Études Studio No.24 + No.25
It is the beginning of a new era. ”Études” rejoins its original alter ego ”Studio”, becoming Études Studio. This goes along with a new display and a renewed temporality to presenting the collection, together with a retuning of its global identity inaugurate the new course.
This is all about celebrating the brand’s founding codes and reinforce its core cha-racteristics in light of more than a decade of life and creative experiences. It is also a way of claiming a vast conception of creation, in which thought, vision and style form an inseparable whole that truly takes shape, not only in the head of the creator, but only in this place of life, research, work and exchange that is the studio.
To reaffirm the multidisciplinary nature of Études Studio, always at the confluence of fashion, publishing, and art the ”É” emerges both as a symbol and as a signature of the brand.
As the initial of the French word ”ensemble” or the English term ”encounter”, it recalls the value of plurality and the power of the collective. Its oblique accent evokes both the French roots of the brand and the metropolitan energy that distinguishes it.
After the triptych dedicated to Paris, the new collection with its two chapters N°24 Untitled (Sans Titre) and N°25 Never Before Seen is symbolically presented in a large artvenue, to underline the centrality of the figure of the artist and his sartorial apparel in Études Studio imaginary. At the same time, a dynamic and multidisciplinary interpretation of looks replaces the runway to exalt the crucial role of clothing in our integration into the world.
A living metaphor for everyday space, the stage is simultaneously occupied by the dressed group of performers and the musician Pierre Bujeau-Megabasse, while the voice of James Massiah welcomes the guests. The presentation begins gradually with the movementsimagined by the choreographer Michele Rizzo under the sign of the meeting of bodies, sometimes in opposition, sometimes as a dialogue, in a changing flow between mutualacceptance, desire and escape.
Études Studio SS25 collection explores the way the artist moves and creates in the world. Chapter N°24 Untitled (Sans Titre) looks at the art performer in his trips around town, in studio work sessions, up to the grand opening. He mixes functional and resistant workwear with more comfortable pieces, leaving a lot of room for purity of form and a certain Parisian elegance. The gesture and the assembly of the pieces blur the boundary between uses and styles: the work suit slips into the suit, the sportswear becomes bolder, and the essentials are distinguished by the elements of the new graphic identity.
The silhouettes of Études Studio SS25 are punctuated by sunglasses in seasonal tones and caps with embroidered messages, while the palette simul-taneously recalls the studio and the tones of the city. It is sober ranging from navy to black with shades of gray and beige. Burgundy evokes references to vintage sportswear, while fuchsia materializes the communicative verve of flyers and nightlife.
In the same metropolitan frame, the charismatic figure of the photographer inspires the conceptual core of the chapter N°25 Never Before Seen. Here too, movement is a privileged key to interpretation, starting with urban strolling in search of meaningful images, or the exploration of the human landscape that makes the metropolis an incomparable place to live. Traces of corrosion due to development acids and splatters of screen-printing paint alter the fabrics of emblematic street-culture garments such as hoodies, sweatshirts and jeans consumed by use with random and sophisticated patterns.
The silhouettes remain simple in volume, but exhibit sophisticated graphic interventions such as the trompe-l’oeil of life-size crumpled clothes screen-printed in black and white on the fabric, compositions of color polaroids or iconographic evocations of early pop art. The chromatic range goes from the grey muted tones of industrial architecture to the warmer hues of beige and browns of downtown elegance.
New York, the city of overflowing creativity, is the aesthetic setting for the collection. In chapter 24 Untitled (Sans Titre), a new collaboration with The Kitchen, the vital NYC-based experimental arts institution founded in 1971, features direct references to historic performances and happenings. Blurred snapshots, frozen video images, and details of black and white printed posters allow us to relive a period of incredible artistic freedom, and to place it in dialogue with fashion and the current moment. For N°25 Never Before Seen, the artist-photographer’s transfiguration takes shape through the iconographic vocabulary of the father of pop Andy Warhol, with reproductions of historical Polaroids and reworkings of the famous Flowers silkscreens.
While reaffirming the identitarian matrix of Études Studio, defined by a wearable, urban, elegant, and essential silhouette, Untitled (Sans Titre) and Never Before Seen, dedicated to the artist’s attire, inaugurate, and define a new era for the brand, reflecting an increasingly contemporary and versatile allure.
