C.P. Company LABORATORIO during Berlin Fashion Week

C.P. Company LABORATORIO comes to Berlin for Intervention by Reference Studios during Berlin Fashion Week

On the occasion of Berlin Fashion Week, C.P. Company, as the official partner of INTERVENTION, presents ‘LABORATORIO’, the brand’s platform dedicated to repair, upcycling and customisation, for the first time outside Italy. The programme includes a series of interactive workshops focusing on product customisation, as well as a first-hand look at pioneering garments from the C.P. Company archive.

C.P. Company’s vision has always been to question the relationship between products and the consumers who wear them. In line with this approach, ‘LABORATORIO’ is conceived as a creative platform that aims to explore the life cycle of a product, from its inception to its final refinement, through a constant and passionate commitment.

Over the two days, ‘LABORATORIO’ will unfold through a series of workshops dedicated to exploring key themes in C.P. Company’s DNA, such as the use of innovative materials, the mutual interaction between form and material as well as product visual customization.

For this occasion, Reference Studios and C.P. Company teamed up with GORE-TEX, local fabric experts and designers. The exhibition with C.P. Company archive garments will be open to the public on the 2nd and 3rd of July, from 11:00 to 18:00. To attend the workshops, participants will need to confirm their attendance by private invitation. At Trust, Kluckstraße 25, 10785 Berlin.

WORKSHOP 1: ‘CORE MATERIALS: DESIGN WORKSHOP’ with GORE-TEX

Working with fabrics and patterns, learning and understanding different uses/purposes of fabrics and shapes to create specific and unique garments. To elaborate on the concept, we bring in a high profile Berlin-based fabric expert to guide and educate participants through the process — using C.P. Company’s extensive printed matter archive to deepen the experience. Immersing them further we create a limited edition, luxe notebook emblazoned with the artworks used throughout the workshop.

WORKSHOP 2: ‘RE-DESIGN THINKING: HYBRIDESIGNING WORKSHOP’

Upcycling and Recycling of C.P. Company garments into ‘Hybrid Designs’ and ‘Second-Life’ renewal. Adding a new layer to the format, we team up with a trained seamstress to sew our participant’s unique designs on the spot — supporting the fruition of their creative ideas. Leaning into the rich history and austere architecture of the city, we suggest working with deadstock / float pieces in darker colourways and dense, durable materials.

WORKSHOP 3: ‘VISUAL REWORK’

‘Visual Customisation’ via learning applications of printing techniques and processes on both cotton and synthetic fabrics. The elements interaction workshop is where the Berlin edition of C.P. Company’s Laboratorio platform truly comes to life. Here, working with local graphic artists, we create a bespoke visual palette to make limited edition impressions on our participants’ garments via ink stamps and eyelids via laser print (pre-engraved at Milan).
