Christian Cowan SS25 / Spring/Summer 2025 at New York Fashion Week on September 8th, 2024 NEW YORK.
Christian Cowan presented Spring/Summer 2025 at the BLADE EAST tarmac in New York City with a dramatic backdrop of the East River and Queens skyline. The SS25 collection is composed of silver, black and cobalt blue – historically the most unused color for the brand. We see many of Christian Cowan signatures such as star motifs, ostrich plumes and hero silhouettes return to the runway.
This season also builds upon the brand’s tailoring techniques that were previewed on the 2024 MET Gala red carpet. Sharp, layered tailoring is seen on genderless with metal roses skewering through the fabric that act as closures. Cowan’s love of bringing underwear to outerwear, seen predominantly in their men’s ready-to-wear, is brought further into the brands codes this season through the collection.
Speaking on the inspiration and mood of Christian Cowan SS25 / Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Christian Cowan said, “Spluttering interrupts Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde: Overture”, everyone turns abruptly, only to see Clarice falling to her side, clutching her Verdura Stardust necklace with one hand, the other leaning against the golden De Gournay wallpaper. She stares with an unsettling horror at her martini which she had thought to herself had tasted strange, as the chilling thought dawned upon her, “it was poisoned!”. Her ankles give way, her lashes flutter, letting out a cry she grabs what’s nearest, pulling the tablecloth Mercedes got at Bergdorf last summer with all its delicious contents onto the polished parquet floor. Hysteria runs wild as the ladies aid Clarice, all the while trying to decipher, who could have done this?! They turn to see a flash of a taffeta and fur running out the door. “AFTER HER” they cry!!! What was promising to be Vienna’s ball of the season, now turns into the most glamorously chic hunt for a murderer…”
Included in Christian Cowan SS25 collection is The Smiley Future Positive collaboration between Smiley® and Christian Cowan, utilizing responsible or circular sourcing solutions and incorporating the iconic Smiley icon into a unique capsule collection. Ross Wilson, the Chief Product Officer, Fashion of The Smiley Company remarks, “The Smiley Future Positive collection is all about embracing optimism and innovation. Each piece not only inspires positivity but also encourages more responsible change in the fashion industry. It’s a symbol of the future we want to create—one that empowers everyone to make a bold, joyful statement. It’s been a real pleasure working with Christian Cowan and the team to bring this vision to life.”
