It was around 8pm when they came out onto the Place Vendôme, after they walked the Schiaparelli show. Even though it had been sunny all day, the night was beginning to feel a little chilly, but they didn’t care. They wanted to keep laughing and playing, and strut some more. They posed for Johnny: one in front of the mythic Vendome column, dressed in a glittering gown, a nod to surrealism, that sparkled in the headlights of the passing cars. The mythical Place, expertly designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, offered a sensational backdrop at this late hour. This moment of freedom ends at the windows of 21 Place Vendome, the historic home of Schiaparelli, when a mysterious shadow emerges, breathless from running up the stairs, clutching her Anatomy bag like a surrealist banner against the Shocking pink flowers. The tête-à-tête between the glamorous dresses and the flash of the English photographer only lasted a few minutes, just enough time to exalt the highlights of this ready-to-wear collection. A flash in the night.
