Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 2025 / SS25 at Paris Fashion Week entitled CHÂTEAU DE BAGATELLE
The art of dressing begins with the act of dressing. Every day, within the intimacy of our wardrobes, women experiment with the dynamics between body and clothes. For Spring/Summer 2025, Victoria Beckham evolves her exploration of the wardrobe not only as a space in which we dress but where we undress, too. Examining this daily ritual familiar to every woman across styles and self-expressions, the collection observes the physical relationship between skin and garment. The study unfolds in a celebration of the naked form conveyed in real and illusory states of undress. The manifestations inspire refections on our individual understandings of the sensual, seductive and sexy, and our instinctive ideas of what it means to be and feel ‘dressed’.
From the apparent to the abstract, Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 2025 / SS25 collection plays with expressions of exposure. In conversations between formality and nakedness, one-third of the construction of tailored jackets is hacked off while trousers are slashed open across the front, creating windows to the skin. Bodies cut along the hip bone and matched to the wearer’s skin tone imitate nudity while knitted lace rompers create a naked idea of a fully-covered torso. It’s a notion of second skin refected in mercurial foor-length takes on the brand’s signature bias-cut crêpe-back satin tea dresses erratically tucked around the female form to eroticise the fabric’s movement. The algae green edition will be available on the https://VictoriaBeckham.com store immediately after the show.
Amplifying Victoria Beckham SS25 collection’s exploration of skin, delicate draped bustier dresses and tops with bows are craftedin foral-printed fabric resinised around the bust. With the movement of the folds frozen in time, each piece is moulded around forms cast from the wearer’s physique through painstakingly precise savoir-faire. Imprinted with the contours of the chest, the creations serve as extensions of the body: rigid second skins hovering over the undressed anatomy. Another game of exposure plays out in sheer georgette gowns with garlands of hand-embroidered disc sequins teasingly wreathed around the silhouette, obscuring the perception of what is covered and what is not.
Expanding on the idea of extending the physical form, translucent jersey dresses and bustiers are crafted around wires suspended in cascading coils between décolleté and hem, amplifying the sensuality of the body’s movement. It’s a study of motion expounded in garments that imitate the gestures we perform as part of the dressing ritual.
Details Victoria Beckham SS25, Boned trousers and skirts are superimposed from the body, mimicking the way we hold up a garment in the mirror to see if it suits. Creases are elevated into the surface decoration of a bonded-cotton trench coat and a tailored trouser structured from exaggerated folds, its waistband turned over in the manner one would spontaneously shorten a trouser. Creases further adorn recycled wool-effect denim trousers and jackets with corset-like hour-glassing evoking the language of lingerie.
Interior-themed conversations play out in garments that reference their own construction as well as elements and gestures native to the wardrobe space. Fluid inside-out blazers draped from the shoulder juxtapose the humble lining normally only seen during the dressing ritual with the garment’s precious outside material. The cuffs of chiselled leather jackets are left unbuttoned as if they were just pulled out of the wardrobe and magnifed in proportion. In funnel-neck leather tops, the sculpted shoulder naturally created when a sleeve is pulled up is freeze-framed and augmented. Echoing the Spring/Summer 2025 collection’s leitmotif of interior elements, its colours are informed by the palette of the Jean-Michel Basquiat artworks that grace the walls of Victoria Beckham’s own home. Adapting the notion of naked illusion, pointed pumps are set on plexiglass banana-shaped heels while pointed lace-ups are constructed in translucent material. Sandal boots morphs into tights that disappear in the silhouette, playing with ideas of coverage and exposure.
For accessories SS25, with similar effect, bags crafted in clear material encase new and established Victoria Beckham silhouettes: magnifed tote bags in suede or laser-cut leather; the Dia saddlebag in canvas; the Cuffink crossbody handbag and clutch in calfskin; and the emblematic Dorian with its B-buckle, featured in several dimensions. Silver-framed acetate eyewear contoured to the curve of the face interprets the season’s themes of second skin and anatomical expansion. Spiral ribbon jewellery set in resin echoes elements and lines of the collection’s dressmaking.
21:50 RÊVERIE BY VICTORIA BECKHAM BEAUTY
21:50 Rêverie is the new fragrance by Victoria Beckham presented on the occasion of the Spring/Summer 2025 show. Staged in the leafy Bois de Boulogne, the entrance to the Château de Bagatelle – the neoclassical maison de plaisance – is illuminated by thousands of lights capturing the scent’s seductive and transporting ambience.
Capturing Victoria Beckham’s memory of a transformative evening in Java, 21:50 Rêverie extracts the luxuriant ambience of the island’s nights in the grassy scent of tobacco leaves carried by candles in the tropical evening wind; the plush trace of plum on the lips of another; and the earthy rawness of vanilla pods and Tonka beans blending with the cedarwood of the land. 21:50 Rêverie is the fourth scent in the collection of fragrances by Victoria Beckham founded in personal memories.
