As initial inspiration: William S. Burroughs’s novel, The Wild Boys, along with the 2017 film adaptation (directed by Bertand Mandico). The season’s cinematic quality is further enhanced through photos by Willy Vanderperre, whose distinctive eye shaped the visual storytelling. From exterior industrial surroundings to interior portrait stagings, a feeling unique to the port history of Antwerp emerges. Within these worlds, a youthful, rakish gang appears in looks where the interplay of sailor stylings, material decadence and dark drama produces an ageless aesthetic that exists outside of time.
