Dries Van Noten Men FW25 / Fall Winter 2025 – 2026 during Paris Men’s Fashion Week entitled BEYOND THE HISTORICAL HORIZON
When the elegance of another era catches up to the current moment, various allusions resonate to striking effect. Designed by the Dries Van Noten Studio and directed by Julian Klausner, Dries Van Noten Men FW25 / Fall Winter 2025 – 2026 collection captures how contrasts turn complementary, and how artistic influences can alter masculine archetypes. As initial inspiration: William S. Burroughs’s novel, The Wild Boys, along with the 2017 film adaptation (directed by Bertand Mandico). The season’s cinematic quality is further enhanced through photos by Willy Vanderperre, whose distinctive eye shaped the visual storytelling. From exterior industrial surroundings to interior portrait stagings, a feeling unique to the port history of Antwerp emerges. Within these worlds, a youthful, rakish gang appears in looks where the interplay of sailor stylings, material decadence and dark drama produces an ageless aesthetic that exists outside of time.
Details of Dries Van Noten Men FW25 / Fall Winter 2025 – 2026, Outerwear explores construction and surface interest, whether an elongated tweed peacoat, an oxblood cavalino trench with storm flaps, coats in duchesse satin with historical puffed sleeves, a leather biker jacket printed with dreamlike flowers. Neapolitan men’s tailoring is juxtaposed with shirts in poplin or jersey boasting enlarged lavallière bows, or else classic styles with detachable, embellished cuffs and collars. A sailor-style trouser is cut with extra volume and a fold-down flap, while slim shorts worn with tights yield a romantic silhouette. The duality of rustic and richness recurs with jackets in traditional hunting fabrics that open to reveal patterned linings in violet or amber fil coupé.
Techniques of Dries Van Noten Men FW25 / Fall Winter 2025 – 2026 such an extra-long multi-colour intarsia cardigan, gradient-sized paillettes, a thistle motif applied by airbrush, and a crackled plastic treatment atop loose threads add layers of intrigue to the looks, often in a state of undress. With a touch of relaxed imperfection, stylings span aristocratic to skateboarder, as headscarves, oversized fresh flower brooches, leather gloves and metal-tipped laces tied at the waist re-introduce the Dries Van Noten idea of new wardrobe combinations. Biker boots and sleek patent derbies bring a different attitude to each ensemble.
As hazy memories converge with the real world, erotic undertones drift across the collection. Subversive and decadent, elusive yet naïve. A collection through which alluring encounters are coming into focus.
