IM MEN FW25 / Fall Winter 2025 – 2026, The human body and cloth. It is a relationship existing since the most early of times, brought under a modern gaze by Issey Miyake. The design team of MDS (MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO) continues to develop and advance this relationship. The concept of a piece of cloth: the more one explores it, the more profound it becomes. Integrating the selection of materials, the use of diverse weaves, and the potential of dyeing techniques leads to a new, fascinating evolution. This piece of cloth at a glance appears unassuming and minimalistic, but within it holds immeasurable depth. What has arisen, from comprehensive research into the potentials of the cloth, is manifested in IM MEN’s clothing—taking forms on the human body. Consider the clothing as easy-to-use products that see you through day-to-day life.

IM MEN AW25 / AUTUMN WINTER 2025/26 COLLECTION – FLY WITH IM MEN

Whenever looking at a piece of cloth, one finds unbounded creativity. Manifested within the unfilled space, transforming and ready to take flight.

Extensive and profound as it is, the cloth absorbs ideas anew, Calling for spontaneity and inspiring a notion of freedom. Fly with IM MEN. Now, with this piece of cloth we fly upward with ease.

The IM MEN FW25 / Fall Winter 2025/26 collection, FLY WITH IM MEN was presented on Thursday, January 23, at Le Réfectoire des Cordeliers, formerly a monastery built in the early 16th century in Paris.

Launched in 2021, IM MEN pursues new possibilities of clothes-making with respect to the human body, derived from Issey Miyake’s philosophy of a piece of cloth. The design team sets out to redefine clothing with the approach to both a garment’s form-making and its construction, reflecting the practice of the integration of design and engineering.

The brand’s intention for this collection, which will be presented for the first time in Paris, is to express the creation of products that transcend all boundaries and bring new, liberating perspectives to many people through ideas born from a free mind.

Designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, an installation inspired by a piece of cloth is placed in the show space and begins to move as if coming to life. It illustrates a new era that will emerge from the dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and modern technology, as well as honoring the philosophy behind a piece of cloth.

Details and description of IM MEN Autumn Winter 2025/26 :

In order to fully convey the beauty of the lightweight fabric, FLY uses the selvage that is often trimmed off, to transform a piece of fabric into a garment that leaves no excess trimmings. The coat and jacket can be worn upside down and can form different silhouettes, depending on how the buttons are fastened. The fabric is a further development of the one used for AIR, one of the brand’s signature lightweight series available since the first season.

FLAT DRAPE is a series featuring the ample draped shirt, jacket, and pants which all form a square when folded. When worn, the corners of the square transform into folds, creating a willowy shape. The original party plant-based polyester has a good balance of softness and stretchiness, lending itself to a more difined silhouette. *The main source comes from non-food grade sugarcane molasses.

WALL is an outerwear series with a three-dimensional form created by intentionally showcasing the inside panels of construction on the exterior of the garment. The recycled polyester fabric has an elegant sheen. It is thick yet soft and lightweight, and wrinkle-resistant for easy handling. The back panel can be transformed into a hood, or the button arrangements can be changed to enjoy a number of ways of wearing.

HERON is a series created using Ultrasuede, an artificial suede made from 100% plant-based polyester developed by Toray Industries, Inc.. This marks the first time the material is being used for clothing worldwide. The material can be cut without fraying; the series features a number of round holes of various sizes arranged in gradient, cut by a machine not normally used in making garments. This unique design, although applied to a voluminous coat style, lends itself to a lightweight construction. *The main source comes from non-food grade sugarcane molasses and cornstarch.

SWITCH is a woven series produced with 100% plant-based nylon fiber made from castor and corn. The thin fabric used for the padded linings was developed by Toray Industries, Inc., first used for another garment series in the Spring Summer 2024 season, when this material was used for clothing worldwide for the first time. For this series, the fabric was further developed into a thicker twill, which was used for the garments themselves. All linings are detachable, and the pants’ linings can also be worn like a vest. The coat and jacket styles can be worn freely, with the option to transform the back panel into a hood.

METALLIC ULTRA BOA uses an artificial sheepskin co-developed by the brand and Toray Industries, Inc., that is a composite of Toray’s artificial suede (Ultrasuede”, partly plant-based*) and fleece made from a blend of synthetic fibers and recycled wool. Foil printing was then applied onto the fabric for a metallic finish. The garment has two straight slits, on the front perpendicular to the hem, lined with two zippers; fastening the zippers in a lightly twisted motion completes the construction of the garment, creating a bold, angular silhouette around the elbows. *The main source comes from non-food grade sugarcane molasses.

KASURI is a modern adaptation of the eponymous traditional dyeing technique that arranges partly pre-dyed yarn on the loom and weaves it to create patterns or colors in gradients. The fabric in this series is woven with a Jacquard machine from three kinds of cotton yarn in different thicknesses that were partly pre-dyed, used for the weft and the warp. The construction, which respects the beauty and the integrity of the textile, uses very few cuts in the fabric during the design process. By fastening the zippers along the diagonal lines from the hem to both sides of the body in a loose, spiral motion, the garment transforms into a coat with sleeves. Fastening the buttons turns the same garment into a poncho.
