A Little Paradox Part Six

“Where do you like to travel?”

Conversing on a street in the red glow of sunset, the person asking this anticipates an answer full of grand idealism and adventure.

As someone who has stayed within a 10-kilometer radius for most of my life, this question strikes me as philosophical. Still, I can’ t think of any reasons for liking to travel. I’ d go as far as to say that hate it.

I make a valiant attempt to answer this innocent yet cavalier question, but absolutely nothing comes to mind.

10 seconds… 20 seconds…

The more time passes, the higher the expectations are likely to grow.

50 seconds…

It’ s no use. I’ m in agony.

70 seconds…

I want to run away from here.

90 seconds…

I want to go somewhere far away.

Words by Mihara Yasuhiro

The approach to the Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO Fall Winter 2025 Collection was to reinvent the core of the brand’ s identity, created over the past 30 years.

It’ s inception lies in a reconsideration of “tailoring,” a concept perceived as slow and at odds within the mainstream, a trend of speedy expression “tailoring” in its broader sense is beyond so-called suit tailoring, even if it gives off a sort of dusty smell. Developed from this is clothing in forms evoking such figurative contradictions.

Two blousons in different sizes used frequently throughout Maison Mihara Yasuhiro FW25 / Fall Winter 2025 – 2026 collection employ inverted patterns with upside-down docking to paradoxically highlight what the act of tailoring is in essence; and the tops, with the patterns of pants converted into sleeves, have been transformed through a classic technique of deconstructivism.

OLIVER is a new arrival to our range of sneakers, which are signature to both the designer and brands roots. For this collaborative model between General Scale., a line started in 2020, and AUTRY, which is produced in Italy, MIHARA YASUHIRO resonated with AUTRY’ s philosophy that aspires for authentic products unaffected by the trends of the times. Without altering the iconic MEDALIST sneaker’ s retrospective form, they have reproduced soles aged by seared finishing.

The paradox within the relative time concepts of past and future embodied by this sneaker’ s worn-out look invites contemplation of their essential nature. What was attempted for this collection was simply to review “tailoring,” not to invent “new tailoring.” This is a paradoxical process which rejects being spellbound by the illusion of creating something new and re-examines the basic acts of making patterns and cutting/sewing together fabrics to create clearly defined contours of the brand and to provide the strength to withstand weathering.
