CMMN SWDN Autumn/Winter 2025 / AW25 at Copenhagen Fashion Week entitled In Between Spaces

CMMN SWDN AW25 collection is deeply personal, reflecting the experiences of CMMN SWDN’s designers, who exist between two distinct worlds—Sweden and the Middle East. It tells a story of being shaped by two geographies, two cultural heritages, and the tension that arises from navigating both. The collection explores duality—not just geographically, but in terms of identity, belonging, tradition, and modernity.

In Between Spaces captures the ambiguity of living in transition—the beauty of being both, yet never fully either. It embraces contrasts, contradictions, and the liminal, creating an aesthetic shaped by cultural fusion, migration, displacement, and the new forms of identity born from these intersections. Each garment serves as a metaphor for the “in-between”—a space where traditions, histories, and experiences collide to create something entirely new.

Details of CMMN SWDN Autumn/Winter 2025 / AW25, A refined palette of sand, cream, and grey is juxtaposed with bold patterns, rich hues, and metallics reminiscent of Middle Eastern heritage, seamlessly blending Scandinavian minimalism with intricate, opulent detailing. This collection marks a pivotal moment for the brand with the debut of its highly anticipated womenswear line. Designed by Emma and Saif Bakir—a husband-and-wife duo—this evolution is a natural progression for a brand that has spent a decade redefining menswear. Emma, trained at Central Saint Martins, brings her expertise in womenswear to craft designs that balance strength and grace.

Key silhouettes for womenswear include hourglass blazers with exaggerated broad shoulders and nipped-in waists, symbolizing confidence and inner strength. These contrasts celebrate a woman who is unapologetically bold while remaining connected to her emotional depth. Elongated shirts with scarf-collar designs introduce elegant layers, referencing traditional Arabic clothing, while exaggerated pointed collars stand alone as bold statement elements, nodding to classic tailoring and adding a sharp, graphic edge.

Outerwear takes center stage, with oversized down jackets in fur-printed technical fabrics that reinterpret the symbolism of fur. Traditionally tied to luxury, power, and survival, here fur represents a bridge between heritage and contemporary functionality—combining opulence with practicality.

In Between Spaces is a celebration of dualities: strength and vulnerability, tradition and modernity, East and West. Each piece embodies the tension and harmony of these elements, resulting in garments that are as culturally rich as they are visually striking.
