The Fall/Winter 2025 collection, titled “Continuum,” is a harmonious blend of past, present, and future, showcased on a runway designed in the shape of the Interlocking G emblem, celebrating Gucci’s 50th anniversary and honoring the legacy of its founder, Guccio Gucci, with a live orchestra performing an original score by the acclaimed composer Justin Hurwitz.
Gucci FW25: Back to the Roots and Looking Forward to the Creative Future
Gucci FW25 marks a new chapter in the iconic fashion house’s long journey, following the departure of Sabato De Sarno as creative director. This collection emphasizes basic designs with lace touches previously introduced by De Sarno, as well as leather accents that have been the hallmark of the fashion house since its inception. This collection also provides an overview of Gucci’s 50-year journey, which has been influenced by six designers, including its founder, Guccio Gucci.
With an emphasis on simple and standard pieces, this collection seems to invite us to look back at Gucci’s entire creative journey in one season. However, there is something interesting that emerges: this collection is very reminiscent of the work of Tom Ford, who is known as the figure who brought a major revival to Gucci in the 90s. Does this indicate that Gucci’s heyday is with Ford’s work? Many argue that the minimalist and sharp designs featured in this collection are reminiscent of Ford’s golden era, when Gucci managed to achieve extraordinary popularity and success.
In addition, Gucci’s decision to unify the presentation of its men’s and women’s collections in February, which were previously separate in January, has raised various speculations. Is this due to Gucci’s global revenue decline affecting the budget for events, or are there other factors such as a crisis in finding new designers that have caused the postponement of the men’s collection? This decision certainly adds to the question mark regarding Gucci’s future direction.
Gucci lovers are now increasingly curious, who will fill the creative director’s chair for next season? This fashion house is still waiting for someone who will continue Gucci’s great legacy, bringing new creativity while maintaining the essence that has been built over the years.
Gucci A symphony of contrasts. The Fall/Winter 2025 collection takes form through shifting silhouettes and perspectives.
