VAUTRAIT Fall/Winter 2025 / FW25 at Paris Fashion Week
At Paris Fashion Week, VAUTRAIT presented its Fall/Winter 2025 collection, a meditation on the continuous, unresolved nature of creation. The designer reflected on the idea that there is no final answer in fashion, only an ongoing question that shifts in form but remains fundamentally the same. Unlike technology or science, which seek solutions and resolutions, fashion resides in a space of perpetual questioning—an enigma that resists closure. The collection emphasized this sense of mystery, inviting viewers to experience fashion not as an end but as an unfolding journey, where the process itself holds more significance than the destination.
The narrative of the collection was drawn from the metaphor of an agent carrying a secret within a suitcase—an inaccessible secret that embodies the essence of the unknown. This secret, like fashion itself, cannot be fully revealed or understood, representing a deeper truth beyond logic or language. The designer suggested that fashion is not about achieving a final, calculable outcome but about embracing the unknown, about recognizing that certain questions are meant to remain unresolved. It is within this uncertainty that the collection found its purpose and its poetry, offering a space for contemplation rather than conclusion.
One of the most significant aspects of VAUTRAIT FW25 collection was the embrace of “mistakes” as vital components of the creative process. Far from being errors, mistakes were seen as moments of rupture—opportunities for something new and unexpected to emerge. These ruptures revealed that making is not simply a task of execution, but an event that happens between intention and resistance, thought and action. The designer celebrated the embodied nature of creation, where the hand, in its tactile interaction with fabric and material, becomes a vessel for knowledge that transcends the mind’s calculation. This process of creation was described as a form of practice, deeply rooted in tradition and the continuity of gestures passed down through time.
VAUTRAIT FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 collection featured reworked archival pieces, underscoring the importance of continuity in fashion. The designer did not seek to invent something entirely new but instead focused on the evolution of ideas and forms. By deconstructing vintage pieces, VAUTRAIT offered them a platform to re-emerge, to live again through the lens of the present. This act of reworking and reinterpreting the past emphasized the idea that fashion is not about breaking away from tradition but about nurturing it—engaging with the past in a way that allows it to grow and transform. The result was a collection that was both a homage to the past and a challenge to the very concept of finality in the creative process.
