SOSHIOTSUKI Spring/Summer 2026 / SS26 at Tokyo Fashion entitled The Shape Itself

For SOSHIOTSUKI SS26 / Spring/Summer 2026, This season, SOSHIOTSUKI presents a new language of formalwear under the theme “The Shape Itself.” When function becomes ornament, and ornament becomes structure each garment is designed to be complete as a form in itself. While retaining softness, the collection incorporates a firm, architectural foundation to achieve balance between function and form, offering a new perspective on formalwear.

Even within minimal compositions, the garments project a quiet intensity when hung an aura, a presence, a tension contained in stillness. In the Drape Facing series, tucks applied to the facing push the fabric outward, forming a natural scarf-like drape in combination with a detached buttonhole. In the Bubble Hem series, softly blurred hems add fluidity and negative space to the silhouette. A previous piece the Inside Lapel Jacket has been revisited: based on a three-roll-two jacket, it incorporates the sensation of a lapel lifted naturally by the wind into the structure itself. Certain unconstructed jackets feature internal pockets that allow for shoulder pad insertion or removal, adapting to each wearer’s shoulder line and preference. Trousers are built with double inverted pleats, adding natural volume and layered depth around the waist.

Materials of SOSHIOTSUKI SS26 / Spring/Summer 2026 include vintage fabrics such as 1980s cotton-washi and linen, selected for their ability to hold the atmosphere of the past while inhabiting the body of today. A cotton suiting fabric woven from kimono yarn offers both drape and dimensionality, despite its entirely cotton composition. The traditional necktie long a brand staple has been replaced this season by the ascot tie, bringing richness to the neckline and embodying this season’s theme of elegance.

Meanwhile, the conventional necktie appears in select looks, styled tucked into shirts or fixed place with a tie pin. This deliberate suppression of movement serves to sharpen the contrast with the garments inherent drape and structure a design choice made to bring the shape itself into focus. As the brand matures, so does its imagined wearer.

From youthful energy to a composed, adult masculinity no longer defined by hierarchy, but equality, autonomy, and presence. By resisting trends and surface-level decoration, we aim to create garments that endure. This is not about ornament, nor function. It is, in every sense, a pursuit of the shape itself.
