Enfants Riches Déprimés Spring/Summer 2026 / SS26 at Paris Fashion Week
The ENFANTS RICHES DÉPRIMÉS Printemps-Été 2026 runway show, held at the opulent Hôtel de Maisons in Paris, opened with a paradox: a child on a blackened metal swing, suspended in harsh light, while a crude bronze skeletal figure and a crystalline crypt stood nearby. No gesture of comfort appeared – only absence, and a sense of withdrawal.
Enfants Riches Déprimés is often about contrasting ideas creating tension towards a propitious outtake. The collection followed the same path. Autocrats and schoolchildren, Richard Hell and dolls – each reduced to signs that no longer align. Bronze and silk, leather and linen – the garments revealed their contrasts without disguise. The craft spoke as language.
Shoes built entirely by hand, soles fixed with nails hammered one by one. Snakeskin boots, a brut assemblage box. Cast metal-tip tap shoes. Hand-stitched tassel loafers. Leather burnished to a quiet sheen. Tailoring fastened with engraved horn and silver buttons. New wave silk neck ties pair with their next eyewear collection in partnership with Jacques Marie Mage. Chantilly and Florentinian lace in dialogue with fine Indian cotton lawn. A silk habotai mourning gown, released from Victorian weight. Materials bore the insistence of touch: hand distressing, couture seams traced like scars, hand drawn details on boots, shirting, and dresses. In each, the gesture of the maker interrupted the void.
With Enfants Riches Déprimés SS26 / Spring/Summer 2026 sharpens the ethos: a figure of refusal and reinvention. To wear the garments is to accept the burden of choice – the knowledge that no ritual will save us, and yet we continue to invent them.
