Designer Ziyad Albuainain was born in Saudi Arabia and now lives in London after graduating from Istituto Marangoni in Milan with an MA in Fashion Design (Womenswear). He is inspired to create bold garments that highlight the beauty in the unexpected, drawing inspiration from art, culture and human emotion – and encouraging diversity and tolerance globally.

Buainain’s most recent collection paid tribute to collective mourning and resilience throughout the Middle East and beyond. Dark hues whisper of loss, while soft and luminous tones offer moments of grace and strength in the midst of anguish. The importance and timely nature of this collection has been recognised by the FTA, shortlisting him as a small designer to watch.

Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) is a non-profit organisation that provides financial support, guidance and mentorships to emerging designers from across the MENA, while also functioning as a platform of opportunity through which talented Arab designers can grow and receive international recognition.
