SAGIO Spring/Summer 2026 / SS26 at Paris Fashion
Inspired by the everlasting appeal of Antiquity, sculptural lines and mythological muses, SAGIO crafts a confident and youthful collection that manages to empower women while revealing their softer -and perhaps more romantic- side. Conveying a joyful and uplifting message in his clothes, Alexander Sagio approaches fashion as poetic practice, enhancing the daily lives of engaging women. Imagining a wardrobe that could fulfill the needs of a modern day Venus de Milo, he delivers a sensual and evocative collection that embodies the contradictions shaping a woman’s psyche, reflecting her changing mood and emotions while allowing her to express key facets of her true character.
Eroticism and playfulness are key aspects within SAGIO SS26 / Spring/Summer 2026 collection, with clothes revealing skin in unexpected ways. Alexander Sagio knows how to create surprising effects, which add drama and irreverence to the simplest pieces. What he refers to as ‘Falling Folds’ is in fact a new way of draping that softens the lines of his sharp tailoring, whether he imagines one of his unique blazers hugging the body or a full-length dress that features draping on the hips. The timeless allure of his silhouette is reinforced by his use of a subdued color palette, privileging white, black and brown, as well as touches of emerald green and soothing aqua, which bring the surreal beauty of Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’ to mind.
By reinterpreting sheerness in a daring and relevant way, the designer adds emotion -and a sense of vulnerability- to sophisticated garments. His take on transparency is refined, striking and alluring, underlining the fact that we’re all vulnerable as human beings. Sheerness expresses a yearning for lightness and evanescence, as well as a gentler hand when it comes to designing.
This softer take on structure can also be felt within the designer’s treatment of the shoulder, which feels less dramatic than in previous seasons, creating a highly desirable -yet intriguing-line. Despite coming across as simple and effortless, this falling shoulder entails months of development in the atelier. By now, it has become one of the designer’s most beloved signatures, reworking the concept of power dressing for a discerning and stylish audience.
Several garments are made for complete freedom of movement, and the idea of waves keeps popping up within the collection, from razor-sharp fringing and organza ruffles to asymmetrical draping twisting the silhouette. Fabrics are noble and precious, including silk, cotton, wool, leather and linen. These clothes are for women who wear their fragility on their sleeves, but also display a strong sense of confidence that comes from pure instinct, knowledge and experience.
