MIMIR Story Of The Brand’s Origin

MIMIR Story Of The Brand’s Origin

MIMIR takes its name from the keeper of wisdom in Norse mythology, the guardian of the well of wisdom, where knowledge is earned, not given. The logo abstracts the base of the Vegvísir (the wayfinder stave). In certain renditions, its lower marker sits like a threshold along the “ground line” – a poetic stand-in for Yggdrasil’s roots, the place where Mímir’s well lies.

The logo distills that lower marker into a quiet monogram of two interlocking “M”s. Read one way, it’s an MM; read another, it suggests roots and branches. Look closer and it echoes neural pathways – a subtle link to memory (Old Norse minni, “memory / remembrance”).

ABOUT THE FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR, Alexander Varner, founder of MIMIR, is a Norwegian creative director who grew up on a small island in Norway. Nature, weather and silence were a constant part of his early life, and they shaped the way he looks at things. He learned to pay attention, to keep things simple, and to trust clarity over noise.

He has worked across high-end and contemporary fashion, combining hands-on creative work in storytelling, design and product direction with more analytical roles in strategy, operations and growth. This mix gives him a practical, inside view of how modern fashion brands are built. He cares about how things are made: craftsmanship, longevity, timeless precision, and responsible choices, and why they matter in someone’s life. Outside of work, he’s passionate about history, philosophy, photography, cinema, music and architecture. These interests sit quietly in the background of his process and give his work a calm, precise character with a distinctly Nordic depth and feel.

MIMIR Debut Collection for Spring/Summer 2026 / SS26 “THE AWAKENING” is the moment the cosmos opens. This first collection is the birth of MIMIR’s world: forms emerging out of Nordic darkness into precise, architectural silhouettes. The reference point is the Norse creation myth and the figure of Mímir, keeper of wisdom and knowledge — a reminder that knowledge is earned, not given.

Details of MIMIR Spring/Summer 2026 / SS26, The clothes are built around this idea of earned clarity. The palette is stripped back to stone black, grey, white and sand beige, with only rare deep accent tones. Lines are architectural but not stiff: blazers with controlled shoulders and elongated bodies, trousers with a disciplined crease, leather cut close to the body but never loud. Every seam, button and panel has to justify its presence.

Wisdom lives in the cut, the materials and the restraint. Strength lives in how the pieces are worn: silent, exact, and built to last. This is not a collection that screams for attention – it’s a uniform for someone at the beginning of a long path, a man who feels the pull of the North but moves through a modern city. Balancing heritage with a forward-looking mindset, MIMIR uses high-quality materials and technical precision to create more than clothing, it builds a framework for pure identity.

THE AWAKENING is built on long-lasting, high-quality fabrics: soft nappa leather, top-grain leather, compact wool–linen blends, organic cotton with Lyocell, crisp cotton poplin, organic cotton, and recycled nylon. Every material is chosen for how it feels on the body and how it ages over time, with seams, buttons and metal details placed with quiet precision so the pieces stay sharp and relevant for years.
