Stone Island Installation Fall/Winter 2026 / FW26 at Milan Men’s Fashion Week, PRESENTATION ON JANUARY 17TH, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC JANUARY 18TH – 19TH, 10AM TO 6PM, VIA TORTONA 31 MILAN
Stone Island Prototype Research_Series 09’s presentation draws on the structure of circular knitting machines. Through deconstruction and reconfiguration, the industrial device becomes the Apparatus: a hyper-real, experiential representation of the Prototype’s creation. Removed from their original context, the various industrial components, now fragments of a process devoid of their primary functionality, become an installation, a metaphor in the service of uniting form and function.
Unspooled threads intersect above the circular pedestal and enter the Apparatus in their primary form, as a reminder of the elemental nature of knitwear: it’s the beginning of a journey whose end result in this case is far more experimental and complex than its beginning. Meanwhile, inflatable elements serve as a conceptual interpretation of the three-dimensional lamination process. Through this allegorical journey, the pieces emerge from the machine as garments of greater complexity and experimentation, displayed in three concentric colour-organised rows. A custom audio installation completes the sensory and spatial experience.
