“In this second men’s collection, I wanted to explore the idea of coming of age. Not in a dramatic or romantic way, but praising the joy of new beginnings. The unfolding of possibilities, the naivety and the honesty of the first experiments with self out of the comfort zone. Six months after my June presentation, where graduates were celebrating an the beach at dawn, they are leaving home university, new adventures -off to explore and learn. I was thinking of the emotion of being attached to a particular garment and the spontaneous ways to wear it. The friendly clothes they bring with them-comforters, souvenirs, roots come from everywhere: father’s coat, mother’s florals, siblings scarves, a beloved jumper and a school jacket that’s been outgrown. A treasure parka, and the familiar embrace of knits. Packing a one’s bags, catching the train for the big city Yo Ga Aketara – When Dawn Breaks” – Julian Klausner

Dries Van Noten Men FW26 / Fall/Winter 2026 – 2027 Collection, An exploration of self-expression in the making: taking things here, bringing them there. Blunt juxtapositions and a sense of warmth, and sharp casualness. The tailored strictness of school uniforms, a reimagined crest, long pencil coats and parkas, capes and capelets, kilts and running shoes. The silhouette is eclectic, tall, in a play of proportions. Too tight, too big too long, a bit short. Knit is pervasively present, full on or in the details and inserts of garments, in Fair Isle patterns, argyles, stripes, cables and as embroidery, Blurred florals all over, printed out of polaroids. Archetypal shapes and the freedom in using them as pieces of a wardrobe. Knotting as a gesture with intention: tightened scarves, untightened neckties. An intuitive impasto of textures and patterns that is true to the house, in a muted palette of blues, greys and neutrals lit up with Fruitella pastels. Fabrics are wool. Shetland, waxed cotton, overdyed cotton, silk, jacquards, flannels in traditional plaid and checks, grey mélange jersey. Shoes are flat, close to the ground for adventures on the go: sneakers, hi-top boxing shoes, wholecut Oxfords with brogue detailing. Big and soft bags to carry things around: gym bags, laundry bags, satchels, school bugs. Accessories round off the spontaneity of characters discovering their worlds patchwork knit hats of a wanderer, eyeglasses to be on the lookout, inherited family trinkets and fishing lure pins, semi-precious lucky charms.
