Entitled INT. NEW YORK CITY STAGE. EVENING.

A stage for theatre. A stage of development. A stage in life. This stage is dark. A WOMAN enters unnoticed. “I long to be seen! The dark does not respond. If you won’t answer me, I’ll conjure a spotlight. The dark makes no indication that it believes her.” A SINGLE SPOTLIGHT APPEARS: “Beautiful! Watch. When I walk, the spotlight stays on me like a dress.” The WOMAN stops. She sits down. She needs something. The dark recommends darkness. The WOMAN crawls across the stage to a PURSE. She takes out a scarf. Jazzes up her look.

“Every day the decision is mine: darkness, or an accessory to my own magic. A scarf envelops me and I rise to the occasion. The occasion for scarfing down life. Life is a delicacy. You know how lipstick looks edible? It goes on your mouth, but is it consumed? I kiss the cheek of everyone I know and they kiss me too. Physically we don’t distinguish between a hello or goodbye. Kiss kiss. A magic that doesn’t let me keep much, but it holds everything I need. A dress that wraps around me like a scarf, a magic that dresses me like a spotlight.” THE SPELL IS CAST.
