Maison Margiela Exhibition Tabi Collectors in Chengdu

Today, as part of MaisonMargiela/folders, the Tabi: Collectors Exhibition opens at the Third Avenue Art Museum in Chengdu. The exhibition celebrates the global community that has embraced Tabi as a form of individual expression. Exploring that relationship, we bring together the personal collections of 9 Tabi collectors. Each presents their personal archives, combining full-scale photography with their rare and distinctive pairs in a reconstruction of their own wardrobe, offering a view into how the Tabi is lived with, preserved, and customised.

The exhibition includes the Maison Margiela Café, offering a gathering place for visitors, where a selection of Maison Margiela archival Tabi are displayed, from the original Spring-Summer 1989 boot to recent interpretations, including the Artisanal Tabi Claw. The Tabi design has been continually reinterpreted across collections in new shapes and materialities, a canvas for the Maison’s experimentation.

This exhibition is part of MaisonMargiela/folders, which began with the Fall Winter 2026 show in Shanghai on April 1, followed by exhibitions and experiences across China through April. Each exhibition celebrates a distinct code of the house.
