Tod’s group announces the completion of the restoration of Palazzo Marino
Milan, 15 April 2026 – A press conference was held today, attended by the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, and the Chairman of Tod’s Group, Diego Della Valle, to mark the completion of the conservation restoration of Palazzo Marino, home to the municipal administration since 1861 and a 16th-century architectural masterpiece designed by Galeazzo Alessi.
The project, fully funded by Tod’s Group, lasted 16 months and involved the restoration of 7,500 square metres of internal and external façades, giving new life to deteriorated surfaces back to life through cleaning, consolidation and protective treatments using compatible materials, as well as the renewal of plasterwork and finishing layers.
With this initiative, Tod’s Group reaffirms its commitment to supporting and promoting the national artistic heritage, seen as both a strategic and identity-defining resource. The restoration reflects an entrepreneurial vision in which companies are called upon to play an active role in the social and cultural sphere, preserving the artisanal skills that form the beating heart of Italian history.
“We have achieved our objective and are very proud to announce that we have completed, on schedule, a restoration that returns to Milan and its citizens a symbol of the city’s history” – said Diego Della Valle, Chairman of Tod’s Group. –“With this project, our Group continues to support and promote Italian art and culture, invaluable resources recognised worldwide. It is a tangible form of civic engagement, based on collaboration between the public and private sectors to support initiatives that improve citizens’ quality of life and enhance the reputation of our country. Companies must become increasingly involved in meaningful and supportive projects for the benefit of our nation. It is important to set a good example.”
“I would like to thank Diego Della Valle and Tod’s Group for the restoration of Palazzo Marino,” – said Mayor Giuseppe Sala. – “The care and attention shown by the restorers throughout the works have been exemplary. Palazzo Marino is the home of the people of Milan: thanks to what has been achieved, we are pleased to return to them, and to the many visitors to our city, the opportunity to discover and appreciate this building in all its history and beauty. The collaboration between the public and private sectors has taken the form of an initiative of patronage that enhances Milan and its identity.”
The works were carried out in continuous and constructive dialogue with the Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Milan and with the same Superintendent Emanuela Carpani, whose collaboration made it possible to achieve a result that is also significant also for the history of restoration.
