PALMWINE IceCREAM Spring/Summer 2027 at Berlin Fashion Week

PALMWINE IceCREAM Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Berlin Fashion Week entitled NUBA Between the Body and the Sacred.

PALMWINE IceCREAM returns for SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 with its most expansive collection to date, a meditation on the body as canvas. NUBA draws its inspiration from the visual culture and spiritual artistry of the Nuba peoples of Sudan, a community whose relationship with adornment, identity, and the human form speaks directly to PALMWINE IceCREAM’s values. For generations, the Nuba have expressed identity through ash, clay, pigment, hand-painted patterns, and jewellery, transforming the human body into a living canvas. Their traditions celebrate rhythm, strength, sensuality, spirituality, and individuality, where every line, dot, and gesture carries meaning and presence. For PALMWINE IceCREAM, this resonates deeply.

NUBA continues the brand’s ongoing exploration of reconstruction, materiality, and African craftsmanship, this time through an intimate and contemporary lens. The collection studies the tension between softness and power; ornament and protection; tradition and experimentation. Ceremonial markings are translated into layered prints, distressed dye techniques, hand-painted leather motifs, and silhouettes that feel simultaneously primal, futuristic, and elegant.

These ideas run throughout PALMWINE IceCREAM Spring/Summer 2027 collection, as SS27 becomes a conversation between Sudan and Ghana, ritual and tailoring, memory and modernity, honouring Kusi’s Ghanaian heritage while taking inspiration from the Nuba people of Sudan. Every piece remains handmade in Ghana, continuing the brand’s commitment to up-cycled and deadstock materials, artisanal technique, and ethical production. The naturally dyed leather treatments introduced in SS26 evolve further this season, with new processes exploring surface texture, pigment layering, and hand-applied finishes, reflecting the same spirit of experimentation and preservation that defines the brand’s relationship with local artisans. Standout pieces include hand-painted leather track pants featuring a tiger motif — a process that took over two days to complete – alongside a biker jacket constructed from leftover leather, transforming waste materials and offcuts from previous seasons into a richly textured patchwork that reflects the brand’s commitment to reconstruction.

PALMWINE IceCREAM SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection also introduces a handmade leather cap developed in collaboration with Paris-based Finnish accessories and jewellery designer Petteri Hemmilä. Bringing together PALMWINE IceCREAM’s material-driven approach with Hemmilä’s expertise in leather craftsmanship and artisanal construction, the collaboration explores the intersection of fashion, sculpture, and contemporary accessory design through a shared appreciation for craftsmanship. Hand-made in Accra, the cap features a constellation of hand applied metallic stars forming a celestial mohawk.

With NUBA, PALMWINE IceCREAM takes another step forward in its ongoing project: building a contemporary fashion language in-conversation with African visual culture, craftsmanship, and material innovation — one that honours the past while confidently looking towards the future PALMWINE IceCREAM is a fashion brand founded by Kusi Kubi, fusing cultural emotion, diverse references, and bold creativity. Bridging London and Accra, the brand redefines style through a blend of casual wear and regal opulence. After returning to Ghana in 2018, Kubi found inspiration in Accra’s Kantamanto Market and the rich traditions of his homeland, launching PALMWINE IceCREAM in 2020. The brand reimagines secondhand and deadstock materials into genderless garments that merge everyday comfort with grandeur — think gold-accented leather trousers, chainmail-layered tees, and boots embroidered with golden thread, each piece reflecting Kubi’s Ashanti heritage. As Kubi told Dazed, PALMWINE IceCREAM blends “tastes and feelings… not necessarily meant to be combined” — forging a bold, unfamiliar aesthetic that challenges convention. With a commitment to reconstruct, reuse, and reduce, the brand stands firmly apart from fast fashion, placing ethical production and creative reuse at its core.
